Keith woke up late. Lance was already dressed and took his meds before waking up Keith.
"Breakfast is ready." He said, walking out the door.
Keith got dressed and pulled on another pair of socks. He padded down the hallway, past the front desk, and into A Lounge. A nurse handed him a tray with a meal ticket and brought his tray to a mostly-empty table, facing the TV, showing the morning news.
"And you think I'm emo." Lance said, stopping to talk. "You're practically moping alone here."
Keith frowned at Lance. "Don't you have breakfast to eat?"
Lance sat down across from him. "So what's your deal? Sometimes you're my best friends and the next you're like a contestant on The Bachelor who didn't get picked."
Keith frowned. "What do you mean?"
Lance pushed the sleeves of his shirt up, showing his scars. "Your mood. It's so... flippy."
"Is that so?" Keith asked.
"Just an observation." Lance replied.
They had breakfast and did their morning check-in, had vitals taken, and went to 'school' before Keith was called to his doctor's office. The doctor was wearing a suit and a lab coat over that.
"Keith Kogane?" He asked.
Keith sat down in the chair by the doctor's desk. "Yes, sir." He said, quietly.
"Do you want to tell me why you're here?"
"I'm depressed." He offered. "I stood on a bridge."
"How's school?"
"Fine. I have a good set of friends, I guess."
"Any personal struggles?"
"What do you mean?"
"Your desire for attention from your parents? Your sexuality? Not getting the grades you work for?"
Keith crossed his ankles and fiddled with his thumbs before swallowing and looking up at the doctor. "I mean, I think... I'm pretty sure I'm gay."
The doctor nodded. "What's your family life like?"
"Good, I guess. My mom always worries about me though and that gets annoying but other than that, fine."
The doctor took down some notes before turning to Keith. "We're going to start you on 600mg of Lithium every morning. We'll take it from there."
Keith frowned. "I don't know- I don't really want to take drugs."
"Do you want to improve?'
"Yes?"
"Take your meds and then talk to me in a few days."
Keith sighed. "I guess it's worth a try." He got up and walked out. He closed the door beside him. He walked to his room. Lance was reading a book. He sat up.
"How was your appointment?" He asked.
Keith opened the drawer that he hid kept his notebook in and walked into the bathroom to get the pencil from the shampoo bottle. He ignored Lance.
Lance, however, was insistent on talking with Keith. "Let me guess- 600mg of LIthium?"
Keith washed the pencil off in the sink and wiped it dry on his black t-shirt. "How did you know?"
"Because that's pretty much the default. I'm on 1000."
"Wow you must be really fucked up." Keith said, sitting on his bed."
