"Wanda, take Pete to his room and help him pack. We aren't safe here anymore." Tony looked around at the three. "Cap let the rest of the team know, we are headed to Wakana in the morning."
Steve looked around in confusion. "Stark, I'm sorry but I can't just leave. I-I have school." Peter dipped in. "School?" Tony sassed. "Peter this is your safety. Lets go."
Peter sighed and turned to Wanda. She flashed him a look saying she had no part in the decision. "Can I at least read the letter?" Peter asked. "I-I don't think that's a good idea kid." "Plea-" "Kid." the two argued.
"Stark let him read his goddamn letter." Steve ordered. Tony sighed and nodded to Pete. The boy peeled open the letter that he grasped in his hand. His hands shook as he peeled open the letter.
"Mr. Parker, It's always nice to talk to you. Our meeting is drawing near; I can feel it. I truly can not wait to meet you in person. We really have a connection. As your dear father Tony Stark is probably figuring out who I am right now, I decided to help him out. My name is Draven Lars and I've known you for many years now.
Remember all those years ago when dear old Uncle Ben was shot? I am so proud to say that was me. Your parents, May, all your family was me. Everyone has gone but you Peter. Sleep with one eye open Mr. Parker and never turn your back.
We will be meeting soon.
-Draven Lars" Peter shook as he read. He could feel tears surfacing in his eyes. Everything he knew, or he thought he knew, about his family's deaths were lies. He collapsed to the ground onto his knees. The letter fell to the ground in front of him as the three adults stood in shock. Tony sat down next to the kid who had tears starting to fall off his face.
Peter fell into Tony's lap and he stroked the boys hair. "Shshshshs. It's going to be okay kid." Tony looked up and Cap with a guilty look in his eyes. Cap signed and bowed his head towards the boy as Wanda covered her face with her hand.
"We need to go. Soon." Tony ordered this time. Wanda nodded and rushed to her room then to Peter's room to help pack for him.
Tony remained on the ground of the living room with Peter crying his eyes out in his lap. He knew that this was all his fault.
~~~Flashback~~~
"Steve we have a code red! Get down here now!" Tony screamed down into the coms over the searching sirens. "Jarvis, fill me in."
Tony summoned his suit as it assembled part by part around his body. "Sir, Draven M. Lars has escaped the high security holding vault and is lose in the building." Jarvis finished.
The man kicked on his launchers and headed flying down the halls. "Lars I know your in here." Tony stopped when he found his way to his garage level. "Capsickle come to the garage." "Copy that playboy."
Tony rolled his eyes and proceeded to order Jarvis to search the room. "Tony I'm here." He looked around in the massive room, flying over his many cars. He spotted Cap and landed next to him.
"What are we going to do if we find him?" Cap asked.
"Don't kill him. I think I can get more out of him." Tony remembered capturing him and bringing him in from an army that a Russian spy had been forming in the US.
"There!" Rodgers yelled, launching his shield at the running target. The shield flew past it and ricocheted off the concrete wall of the garage. The figure ducked out of the way of the initial throw but was hit in arm the second time around.
The force of the hit was enough to break the monitor on his arm that contained his powers.
"SHIT," Steve shouted, "the monitor is off, heads up!" Just as Steve yelled Lars filtered his powers and blasted shots towards Tony. The impact shattered Tony's helmet right off his head into pieces. He collapsed to the ground and lost consciousness.
Steve panicked and ran toward him, not noticing the criminal as he slipped away. "Tony. Tony!" he shook his limp friend in attempt to wake him up.
"JARVIS read vitals." Cap commanded, pulling the metal glove off of Tony's cold hand and grasping it tightly.
"Heartbeat detected, he's breathing but just barely. I contacted an emergency unit in the tower and they are on their way."
Steve released his breath he didn't know he was holding but kept his grip firm on Tony's hand. He couldn't loose him like he lost Bucky. Not that way at least.
Tony sat with Peter until he let out a deep yawn and curled up on his father figures lap. He gazed off into a deep nap and Tony remained still, not wanting to wake him.
"Peper hey." Tony spoke into his phone, "Listen, I know we arent talking anymore and I hate that but it is what it is. There's a lot of change in my life right now and I just think you need to know about it. Please call me as soon as you can. Please."
Tony sighed as he ended the voicemail. The two had a fallout around a year back and haven't talked much since. Tony moved his hand through Peter's soft hair for comfort.
Steve looked over at Tony from across the room. He sighed as he grabbed two glasses from the cabinet. He filled them with ice and liquor and headed to Tony. Sitting on the couch next to the man, Rogers offered the glass and comfortably placed himself.
The two didn't say a word; they just sat there and drank their feelings and emotions away.
