You were sitting in your room at the Avengers compound, sunlight streaming through the window and onto your multicolored collection of blankets. You turned to the side and stared up at your clock, which read 9:34 in bright red numbers. You sighed and stepped out of bed, the cold wooden floor meeting your feet. "Good morning, y/n. You're the last one up, shall I inform your father?" F.R.I.D.A.Y.'s robotic voice filled the room as your lights flicked on."No thanks, I'll go tell him myself," You sighed and rubbed your eyes, walking out of your room. You were still in pajamas. Tiptoeing through the main hallway and to the kitchen, a large and mostly white room with cupboard lined walls and a gray stone island, you met Steve. He was standing up in front of one of the flat stoves, in his usual attire of blue jeans and a t-shirt. There was a collection of dirty cooking dishes in the sink, all covered in what looked like pancake batter, a mixture of plain and chocolate chip.
"Morning y/n! Care for a waffle?" Waffle batter, then, not pancake. Steve smiled and turned to you, showing off the plate of waffles next to him, and the two waffle makers that were cooking in front of him. "They're organic." You wondered if he made the batter himself, he probably did. "Tony hasn't been up here yet, so there's still a couple chocolate chip waffles, if you want some of those." The end of the sentence was singsong, Steve knew you loved chocolate. That swayed you over.
"Oh alright." You laughed. "You know my weak spot, Rodgers." You leaned forward and grabbed two waffles and a light hug from Steve. Ever since 2012, him and the rest of the Avengers were like family to you, he was your superhero dad just as much as Clint and Banner, Tony more so, for obvious reasons. You took a bite from the waffle as you walked over to the living room and jumped over the back of the gray couch, landing on the cushions. You leaned forward and grabbed the fancy black remote and began to flick through the channels, finding nothing worth watching on. You could get something on demand, of course, but you were sure that by the time you found anything somebody would steal the remote. Better to leave now than later, you guessed.
You sighed and turned off the tv, partially rolling off the couch and walking out of the living room, heading to the training center. Bucky waved at you as you passed then kitchen, he was sitting down at the island with a stack of 3 waffles covered in syrup. Steve was behind him, holding a half-full syrup glass. You waved back and smiled, continuing down the seemingly empty hallway untill you bumped into someone.
"Woah there!" It was Tony. He was wearing an old ACDC t-shirt with a faded logo on the front, his blue jeans up ridiculously high, as they always were. "What are you doing with this?" He leaned forward and grabbed the second chocolate chip waffle out of your hand before you could hide it from him. "You know chocolate is always reserved for me, kiddo." He ruffled your h/c hair and took a bite of the waffle, claiming it as his own as he walked past you. "I'd be careful if you're planning on sparring at the center, Natasha's busy beating up everyone she can, for some reason." He laughed awkwardly and rubbed his side. You assumed he was one of Nat's sparring victims.
"I wish Thor was still here. He'd steal back all the waffles for me." You laughed and turned around to hug Tony in the back, trying to grab the last bite of waffle and failing. "Love you Dad." You buried your face in the back of his shirt and smiled.
"Love you too, y/n" Tony replied, smiling as he ate the last bit of the waffle that was rightfully yours. You didn't mind. CRASH!
"I am here!" Thor's booming voice filled up the corridor as you spun around to face it, or rather, him. Thor was standing standing in the center of the corridor, directly underneath a huge hole in the ceiling and on top of some ceiling rubble. The hole was presumably how he entered the building, and also where the crashing had come from. He looked almost exactly the same as when you last saw him, although his outfit was a little bit different. His hairstyle and beard were both cut way shorter, it looked like he was wearing an eyepatch, for whatever reason. And for once, he wasn't holding his hammer.
"Thor!" You ran forward and gave him a hug, his usual big and goofy grin taking up his face. "I missed you, everyone missed you! Where were you? Where's Mew Mew?" You stepped back and looked up him as Tony walked over, patting Thor on the back with a pained expression on his face.
"Point Break! Thanks for breaking the roof, where you been?" He smiled up at Thor and shifted his gaze to the roof. That wouldn't be easy to repair. "Too much has happened while you were gone. F.R.I.D.A.Y! Tell everyone to meet in the living room. Thor's here!"
"I noticed." F.R.I.D.A.Y replied, a hint of sass in their mechanical voice.
"Quite a lot to catch up on, really." Tony turned to Thor as the two of them started to walk towards the living room.
"Yes, I have quite a story as well, Stark." Thor's face darkened as they reached the kitchen, where Steve and Bucky were gone, presumably already in the living room, the plate of half-eaten waffles abandoned on the island.
"So go on." Tony said, sitting down on the couch, surrounded by most of the team, a noticeable gap in space between him and Steve. "Tell us the sob story of how you got here." And so he did. Ragnarok, his sister, the destruction of Asgard, finishing with how he parked the ship on Norway and left for Stark Tower. Everyone in the room was listening intently, especially you. Thor finished and took a deep breath, stopping back uncharacteristic tears. "So then.." Tony started, looking at Thor. "If you left almost everyone at the ship, who didn't you leave there? Are they with you, what's up with that?" Tony raised his hands set then down in his lap, cocking his head sideways.
"Well, your last relation with him was... Not friendly. We both decided it would be better if he stayed behind for the first interaction." Thor coughed and looked down at the floor as the room's atmosphere dropped.
"First interaction? So we've met him be- oh it isn't him is it?" Clint scowled from across the room at Thor, unpleasant memories flooding his head. "Please don't tell me it's who I think it is." He turned to Tony, who shrugged, then to Natasha, who had the same look on her face as him. Clint turned back to Thor and sighed. "It's who I think it is, isn't it." Thor looked up at the seemly empty hallway and waved his hand, where Loki walked out, his black boots lightly stepping on the wooden floor.
"Well." He smiled characteristically, his green eyes shining. "I truly am flattered that I was the first to come to mind, was I not?"
Boom boom pow, first chapter out! Tell me what you all think, this is my first xreader story, so I hope it's not that bad. I did a couple of later updates, so if you think something's different, it probably is. I'll probably do a couple more edits and revisions because this still feels very clunky to me, the backstory part especially, so there's that. If you have any criticism, please share it! For updates and random text posts, don't forget to follow me and vote, and comment if you feel like it, I'm lonely and want to talk to someone! Have a beautiful and wonderful day, my shining and lovely croissant children!
