twenty one

for the past month ethan and rey have been loved up, making the most of every moment they spend together filled with kisses, embraces, sweet words and laughter. rey feels like every day is a dream when dating ethan, she can't believe how lucky she is to have such a handsome and amazing boy to call hers. ethan finds himself falling for rey more and more as the days pass, slowly discovering new layers to her as she blossoms before him, every one he adores more than the last. he never imagined he'd fall for and date a girl like rey but he is grateful that he is now because it seems so right for him. 

the dance has finally arrived. tonight all of the junior kids at school will gather in the gym to enjoy the night, most of them with dates. a few months ago, rey wasn't thinking of going, she couldn't bear the thought of being around those kids who make her school experience miserable, also she wouldn't have had a date. jacob may have taken her if he was up for going but it wouldn't have been the same. now she has ethan and is bursting with excitement to go with him and have a magical evening. she has a strong feeling that it'll be a special night.

ethan has arrived at rey's house to pick her up for the dance, dressed nicely in a dark blue shirt and black trousers with his hair propped in its dark curls. mrs.banks greets him at the door, a warm smile on the lady's face and she takes in her daughter's boyfriend's appearance. "ethan, you look charming" she praises him sweetly "so handsome". "thanks mrs.banks" ethan gives her a soft kiss on her cheek, seeing where rey gets her adorable personality from "is my lady ready?". "oh she should be" rey's mother says as ethan walks into the hallway "ive never seen my little girl so excited for something". ethan smiles at the woman's warm tone and the fact that his girl is so looking forward to tonight, he too feels that tonight will be amazing and no one is going to change that especially not his old friends.

"I have to tell you ethan" mrs.bank starts to say and ethan looks at her "you've made rey so happy this past month, I haven't seen my baby this happy for too long. she's been through a lot before and ive been so worried about her but now that you're here for her I know shes okay. so thank you for that". ethan feels genuinely touched by this woman's words, he can tell she means what she says from the bottom of her heart and it really reaches him. he plans to only make rey even more happy then she already is.

the two smile at each other, "making your daughter happy is all I want mrs.banks" ethan tells her and her eyes shine. she then looks up at the staircase and that shine only glows more by what she sees, ethan follows her gaze and turns his head. there stands rey, smiling at the two people she cares so much for, dressed in a yellow, nearly golden, dress. ethan takes in every detail of her appearance. her hair is loose and the curls spring around her head, shes still wearing her glasses and no make up, he loves how she's not dressing up as anything she isn't. and she looks amazing in that dress, bursting with warmth and energy, his little sun ray.

"wow..." ethan whispers to himself as rey walks down the step towards him, a huge smile on her beaming face. "you like it?" she asks him rather nervously, "I love it" ethan answers honestly "you look incredible, thats definitely your colour, like a little sun ray". rey grins at her boyfriend's reply and looks at his shirt that reminds her of the night sky, "dark blue...you and I look like day and night" she comments and ethan laughs at her adorable statement. "the perfect pair" he adds and pulls rey in for a kiss, making her glasses tilt and he only chuckles more. "you keeping the signature frames on?" he asks and its not in a judging way, he thinks the glasses look great on her as they accentuate her beautiful eyes. "of course, i'm not gonna risk a huge headache like I did before just because im worried about how they might look, im gonna still go as me" rey replies, a new wave of confidence in her that ethan adores. she's not changing how she looks for anyone, not for ethan or the kids at school.
