Sunday- 6:00 PM

My eyes started to flicker open. I was dazed and confused about where I was and my cheek was in a lot of pain. I tried to reach up to brush the exorbitant amount of hair in my eyes away, but my wrist was restrained down. I was starting to become more alert and I noticed I was in a chair that looked like a mattress folded into a chair, but there were straps over my waist, wrist, and uninjured ankle. It looked like it could fold out into a bed I immediately began to try and fight them, but quickly realized getting out of them would not be possible. I looked around and saw the floor was steel and the walls were greyish in color. There were no windows, only a single door directly in front of me. Where was I? I tried to think back to where I was before this and remembered my encounter with Blake. He had hit me, but I was still confused as to what was going on. Why had he hit me?

"Blake?" I screeched. "Let me out of here!" I was extremely flustered and confused as to what was going on. Why would Blake kidnap me? He didn't have to contact me. "Blake!" I screamed again. I fought the restraints more, but still knowing it was no use. "Please!"

Finally, I heard the door handle start to open. Not to my surprise, Blake walked in. His knuckles were red, I assumed from hitting me, and his hair was wet.

"Blake, what the hell is going on?" I demanded.

"Just try to relax, Eva," he.

"What?" I asked him.

"Oh, Eva, are you surprised?" he asked with a smirk, touching my chin. I didn't say anything but pulled away. "I knew I could make you fall for me, it was easier than I thought actually. You were so excited that I even asked you out that the rest just fell into place. I didn't mind having a pretty girlfriend to flaunt around either,"

"What are you talking about? You said you loved me," I pleaded.

"People say a lot of things that aren't true," he snapped.

"But, why? Blake, why would you kidnap me? Why would you try to make me fall in love with you?" I asked as tears started to roll down my cheeks.

"For my mother," he answered.

"Your mother?" I asked.

"Yes. Let me introduce you," he offered and his mother came in. She was tall with short dark hair, wearing a lab coat. "This is my mom, Dr. Alexandra Heffner. Genetic scientist."

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Eva. Blake tells me about you all the time. Well, how gullible you are," she said with a laugh. I looked down. "My bosses have been following you for some time and when we found out you were enrolling into the same school as my Blake, it was perfect. We easily hacked into the grade book and found you were struggling in school. Perfect once again. Blake offered to tutor you and said he knew you through basketball. The rest happened quite easily. And finally, after lots of prep work, we finally have you," she said devilishly.

"Why me?" I asked softly.

"Did you hear me the first time?" Blake asked. "She's a genetic scientist."

"Don't. There's no way," I started.

"Oh, but there is. Your biological grandparents have been planning on catching one of you for as long as I can remember. Working for them truly has been a dream come true. They even completed a successful genetic intelligence surgery on Blake when he was younger," Dr. Heffner shared. I didn't say anything. My grandparents were behind everything. I couldn't think or speak and I was trembling. So much of my life was a lie.

"Don't you want to be smart Eva? The lifestyle is really great," Blake said.

"I trusted you," I said softly.
