Okay, so Artemis. The greek goddess of the hunt, wild animal's, virginity, and apparently child birth. I might not agree that she's the goddess of child birth, but let's just go with it for now. Also in Percy Jackson she led a group called the "Hunters of Artemis" but I haven't found any evidence that she actually led a group called that.
Artemis's story begins by Zeus seeing a nice looking Titan and then got her pregnant. I mean half of the twelve Olympians were born because Zeus couldn't keep it in his pants. But back to the story! So Hera being pissed at Zeus for about the millionth time decides to make giving birth to Artemis and her twin Apollo almost impossible by saying, "Hey! You can't give birth to your kids anywhere on earth or Olympus". After Hera said that Leto, the titan, was just like " Fine then!". And then Delos emerged and Leto was able to give birth there because it was technically not the earth and or Olympus.
So then Artemis came out with her twin brother Apollo and lived the rest of there days doing whatever they do.
Since Artemis was the goddess of virginity she didn't like any males. Except for Orion because he was, I quote on quote "heroic". So after they met they became friends and hunted together. Then Apollo saw this and was jealous because he loved Artemis so much and couldn't bare seeing Artemis sharing her love with someone else. Apollo being the dummy he is made Orion dream of a giant scorpion killing him causing him to wake up and then realize that it was just a dream. Orion then went outside to only find out that the giant scorpion in his dream was real and it was trying to kill him.
Okay so do you guys remember when I said Apollo was dumb, well that's true because he's a god. Why didn't he just kill Orion in his sleep and blame it on someone else? We'll never know. But he took the hard way and made Orion swim across the ocean to escape the scorpion. Then Apollo said "Hey sis someone named Candaeon was attacking the forest priestesses and is swimming across the ocean to escape you". Artemis being enraged by that grabbed her bow and then shot at the small speck in the water. So Artemis killed her best friend and regrets it.The end
Also this myth was probably made up after Artemis was solidified, it was most likely poets who thought making a tragic love story would look good. But as far as we know, Orion was just a constellation in the sky and had no relation to Artemis at all.
