Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep.

I turned over and hit the 'Snooze' button, and slowly got out of bed. I always hate going to school on a Monday. No, I hate Mondays... Actually, no, I hate school overall. Period. Nothing happened on Sunday, since all I did was homework. Anyways, I went to the bathroom to freshen up and went back to my room to get dressed. I put on a yellow shirt with black jeans, black/yellow Jordans, and a black beanie on my head with a necklace around my neck.

I headed downstairs to the kitchen to fix a bowl of cereal, when I got a text from my mom.

Mom💖
Your dad and I had to get to work early, so we'll see you tonight. Have fun at school and love you Austin.

I quickly replied, Love you too and ate the cereal. After I finished, I rinsed the bowl and put it in the sink, and went back up to my bedroom to finish getting ready for school. After, I did my morning routine, I headed out to my car and drove off to school. I pulled into the parking lot and parked in an empty space, then went inside to my locker. I was putting my books up, when I heard my name called behind me.

"Austin," I turned around and it was Lauren.

"Oh, hey Lauren," I said, turning back around putting my backpack on the hook of the locker.

"I saw what happened couple days ago," she said and I stood still, not moving.

Crap. I forgot that her locker was twenty down from me. I was still motionless, thinking that someone knows on how Jackson really treats me... And it's Camila's best friend.

"Well..." Lauren said, snapping me out of my thoughts.

I licked the bottom of my lips, "What did you all see?"

"Enough to know that he threatened you and slammed your hand against the locker door."

I raised my hands behind my head and slid down the wall with my head buried in my knees.

Lauren sits down next to me, "Austin, what's going on?"

I could feel my face started to heat up and couple of tears started rolling down my face, and could feel it on my pants.

All of a sudden, I felt an arm around me and I looked up to see that it was Lauren, "Austin, if anything is bothering you, you can tell me."

"There is one thing..." I softly started to speak up.

"Yeah?" Lauren asked, a little confuse.

"You have to promise that it will stay just between me and you," I said, looking up at her.

"Anything, Austin... You can trust me," Lauren grabbed my hand and smiled at me.

"You can't tell Camila on what Jackson did to me."

"I can't keep a secret this big behind my best friend-" Lauren said, but I interrupted her.

"Lauren, please..." I pleaded, "Promise?"

"Fine, but let me see your phone."

"Uhm, okay... Why?" I asked, confusingly as I pulled it out of my pocket.

"So, you can text or call me anytime you want, if Jackson keeps picking on you," Lauren said as she enter her number into my phone and handed it back to me. "Well, we should be going to class," she said, getting up.

"What class do you have first hour?" I asked, walking next to her.

"PreAP Physics, what about you?"

"Algebra 2 with Camila," I said with a small smile.

We continued to walk, until we arrived at Room 14.

"Well, I'll see you around, Austin," Lauren said, going in the classroom, then turned around to look at me, "Hey, don't remember that you can always call me if anything is bothering you," she said, pulling me into a hug.

I hugged her back, "Thanks, Lauren."

After, she went to Physics, I headed to Algebra 2 and sat in my assigned seat. I got out my homework and turned it in the basket, then went back to my desk. I pulled out my songbook from my binder and started writing in it, until Camila comes in...and Jackson is with her.

Just great.

Just. Freaking. Great.

"Hey Austin," Camila said, sitting down in the desk next to me.

"Hey Camila," I said, looking down.

"Why hello Austin," Jackson said with a slight smirk.

I still continue to look down, ignoring him.

"Well, I'll see you around, so later babe," Jackson said, giving a quick peck on Camila's cheek.

"Alright, bye baby," Camila said, waving and watching him leave the room, then took out her homework to turn it in and got her notebook out to get ready to take notes.

The first bell rang causing everyone to hurriedly rush into their seats, as Mr. Mitchell walks in and steps in front of the class.

"Okay, class, pass your homework to the front," he said, picking up the homework from each student in the front of each row. "Today's lesson is factoring difference of squares."

I was taking notes, even though I don't know what's actually going on. This class confuses me and my brain doesn't function well when it comes to math.

After Mr. Mitchell finised explaining the lesson, he went over the homework, "Okay, your homework is on page 84: 4-28 evens, 33-41 odds, & 71-73."

There were still 20 minutes left of class, I got a head start on my homework, since there was a lot of problems. I answered the first two problems, until I got stuck on #8; I worked it out three or four times, but the answer didn't look right, so I was mentally frustrated.

"Camila," I said, looking over at her, who was doing her work.

"Yeah Austin?" she asked, looking up at me.

"Have you done #8 yet?"

She quickly looked down at the problem and back up, "Yeah, why?"

"Can you show me how to do it? I tried, but I think I keep getting the answer wrong," I said, showing her the problem.

"Yeah, of course," Camila said, kneeling down next to my desk. "9x^6-y^8 factors into (3x^3)^2-(y^4)^2 which equals (3x^3-y^4)(3x^3+y^4)," explaining the steps to the problem.

Looking down at the problem, I was even more confused. Why would you put letters and numbers together in math? This makes no sense and hurts my brain.

I rubbed my head, "This still makes no sense."

Camila put her hand on top of mine, "How about I come over to your place after school and help you with this?" she asked, smiling.

"Thanks, Camila. You literally are an angel," I said, smiling.

The bell rings and everyone all rushed out the door to meet up with their friends int he hallway. I walked out of the classroom and stopped at my locker to grab my stuff for Chemistry. I was walking to Chemistry when Camila walked up next to me.

"Hey Austin," she said, smiling.

"Hey Mila," I said with a smile.

"Well, I'll see you tonight," she said, walking off to her second class.

I went in the classroom and sat at my desk. I glanced over at Alex, who was down on his phone, so I pulled out my notebook and started writing in it.
