Chapter 1: Evicted

I woke up from a sound of a thump outside my door. My eyes slightly open and take a few seconds to blur out my surroundings. I look over to the tiny light shining on my nightstand. "7:14".

I got out of bed and pulled some sweatpants over my shorts and grab my grey hoodie from off the floor. I took a couple steps out the door and overhearing someone in the living room. I quietly take a couple more steps and peek my head around the corner to see who else is awake at this time. It was my roommate yelling into her phone.

 "NO! YOU CAN'T KICK ME OUT OF MY APARTMENT! JUST GIVE ME ONE MORE WEEK, ILL MAKE UP RENT!" My breath starts to catch and my heart sinks. She starts yelling again after a small pause "FINE THEN! I HATED IT HERE ANYWAYS!"  She yelled, then hung up her call. 

She threw her phone on the couch and fell to the floor, starting to form tears in her eyes. " L-Lily?" I quietly said, taking a step towards her. She looked up and her eyes widened. She looked so exhausted. Her dirty blonde hair was thrown back into a messy bun and her grey eyes looked more dull than usual. She wore a loose pink jacket over a white tank top and had basketball shorts that had a tiny 'Storm' symbol for her community college. 

 " I, I... I'm sorry you had to hear that." She finally spoke to break the awkward atmosphere. " Oh, Lily! That's okay. I just wanna make sure your alright." I felt out of breath even though i'm just standing there talking. My mind was blank and worried.

She got up to get herself some water. Her tired eyes laid on the ground and she pushed herself up weakly. She walked over to the sink and turned on the faucet." We are... Gonna make up rent right? Or is he kicking us out?" I said, shaking. She looked into the sink and then clenched her fist. 

" He is just being an asshole." She said then giving a small smile. I chuckled lightly then stopped right after. She turned off the faucet and walked over to me. "But we will find a place, don't worry." And for some reason, I lost all hope.

            I looked up "Places for rent" on my phone, and a couple things showed up. I found one close to my work, so I clicked on it. Someone had a spare room to lend with 4 boys inside of it. "Oh dear god." I laughed a little then scratched my head. It's really cheap, and living with men couldn't be so bad..right?

 I rung up the number that was on the Ad and a very cheery voice picked up the call "Hello! This is Edd, how may I help you?" He sounded very friendly, but almost feminine. "Hey, umm I was wondering if you still had a spare room for rent-" He cut me off, "OH MY GAWD FINALLY!!" he screamed in excitement. I made a small smile and pulled at my sleeve. "So, can I stay with you? And your friends?" I said with a hopeful voice. First impression was never my thing.. "Yes! Of course! Omg i'm so excited! I'll go tell the others! When can you come?" He replied, seeming anxious. 

" I can come today actually. I got your address, can I come around 3?" I heard a whale of excitement on the other side of the call. This guy is really happy that i'm coming. "YAY! WE'LL SEE YOU THEN!" I ended the call without saying bye. SHIT. That was stupid. Stupid. Stupid STUPID. He was so nice too, and you probably ruined it. Great job y/n.

 I walked with stupidity to Lily's door and knocked. "Come in!" she yelled from across her room. I opened the door and had a huge smile on my face. "I found a place already!" I yelled. Her face lit up and then paused. "That's great! I'll start packing!" She jumped up and down then I almost forgot. "Oh I meant for me, It was an Ad for one.." Her smile faded away and she stood frozen in place. Her mouth came up to speak, but nothing came out. 

"I'm sorry, Lily." I broke the silence and walked closer to her. I put my hand on her shoulder and she smacked it away. "Why would you stay somewhere without me? I thought we were a team." She whined the last part as if it was hard to say. I feel bad, honestly. But shit happens. 

"Well I'm leaving whether you like it or not, so we can end on bad terms or we can plan to see each other again. Which is it gonna be?" I'm not having it right now. I have to get out of this hellhole and meet that friendly guy before Lily punches me. "Just get out." She yelled and pushed me out her door. She slammed it in my face and her footsteps fainted away as she walked farther from me. 

I walked away and went to the front door. I got to my car and started to drive away. But before I knew it, I already missed her.

"I sure hope we see each other again."
