Chapter 12

Alicia woke up to the smell of hot chocolate and toast invading her nostrils. She stretched and looked around for Ashton, remembering what had happened the previous night.

She blushed and opened her eyes, blinking rapidly as they adjusted to the light. Sitting up and stretching, she noticed a tray on her desk. It contained two pieces of buttered toast and a mug of hot chocolate. A little note was placed next to the hot chocolate, but the message had been blurred by a small spillage of hot chocolate.

Alicia looked at the door of her bedroom and gasped. The chair had been removed. Panicking, she threw the blankets from her warm flesh and stood up, looking around for Ashton.

"Ash? Ash where are you!?" She opened her bedroom door, after no reply, and looked down both ends of the white corridor.

There was no sign of him.

She shut her door, her breathing increasing and sat on her bed, attempting to collect herself. Her eyes rimmed with tears as her mind imagined worst case scenarios.

Her hands trembled as she stood back up from her bed and exhaled. She walked down the corridor towards the medical ward in hope of finding him there.

The receptionist gave her a look as Alicia walked through the double doors, holding her arms to her chest.

"How may I help you?" The receptionist flashed her a warming smile as Alicia blinked back the tears.

"Is A-Ashton here?" Alicia stuttered out her words as her heart raced faster from the mention of his name.

The receptionist broke the eye contact and typed onto her computer. Her eyebrows furrowed as she pressed more frantically at the keys on her keyboard.

"I'm sorry but I can't find any record of Ashton Irwin coming in this morning. We had him in last night, but after incidents, we decided to transfer him."

Alicia's heart stopped right then. Her hand went to her chest as her brain commanded her to breathe. Her knees trembled as she fell to the floor, her surroundings going in slow motion.

The receptionist jumped over the desk and yelled for a nurse, Alicia couldn't hear anything. She saw her lips move but no sound registered in Alicia's mind.

The nurse arrived, crouching down besides Alicia. She asked if Alicia was in pain, but Alicia heard nothing over then the vibration of her sobs and screams.

The nurse attempted to pick Alicia up, but the 106 pound girl was to heavy for the single nurse. A doctor arrived and crouched down next to Alicia, attempting to stop her from screaming.

He tried to pry her hands from her ears, which resulting in her screaming more.

She stood up screaming and ran down the corridor, hands remaining on her ears. She ran towards the entrance to the rehab and was stopped by two large muscly security guards.

She removed her hands from her ears and punched, scratched and kicked at the security guards, wanting nothing more then to let her pass. Her arms began to ache and she fell on the floor again in a sniffling mess.

The larger if the two security guards picked her up bridal style as she late in his arms, lifeless and unmoving. He questioned the nurse to show him Alicia's room, which she did, and laid Alicia down on her bed.

They left Alicia curled up on her bed, hiccuping softly. She scratched at her wrists and bit her lip hard, attempting to draw blood. Her tear strewn cheeks marked her face.

She turned over and looked at the tray, noticing the medication in the little tub. The toast had gone hard and the hot chocolate was cold. She grabbed the tub and walked across the hall to the toilet. The first cubicle was occupied, so she walked into the second one, emptying the pot into the toilet bowl. She flushed the toilet and walked back to her bedroom.

She walked in, shut the door behind her and resumed her original position on the bed.

That night she fell asleep, silently crying, wishing of nothing more then Ashton to come in and assure her that everything would be alright.

He needed her, now she needed him.
