After coming out in the same video both Rye and Sonny's messages have been going crazy. They were both aware that it would cause some uproar, but the amount is insane. To his surprise even a few of Rye's gigs got cancelled, the fact that people are still homophobic in twenty nineteen is insane. On the other hand he did book a shoot with a big LGBTQ magazine in the UK: attitude, alongside Sonny. They had also tried to contact 'versacetouch' to be on the cover along side Rye instead of Sonny, completely unaware that versacetouch and Sonny are the same person.
"Mate this is absolutely bonkers." Brooklyn groans, pushing Thor who's in a swing. They are currently in a park not to far from their apartment complex. Jack is on a swing next to the two and Sonny, Mikey, Harvey and Rye are spread on a picknick blanket about a meter away. "I mean I am proud of ya's but coming out through a barely audible two second clip, Sonny?" It has never been a secret that Sonny is gay, they have all known for ages, the same way they all know Rye is bisexual. It however was a secret that Sonny would be coming out during the same video Rye did, not even the brunette was made aware. Sonny hadn't even planned it, he had just been editing the video and decided it would be funny to do it like that. He had already come out as Sonny Robertson the model through the shoot he did with Rye and he just decided he wanted to be as authentic as he can as versacetouch as well. So he recorded the short clip and just put it in.
"Didn't wanna make a big deal out of it. It's not like I am going to be some kind of big LGBTQ channel now. I am still just a game commentary youtuber, lads." Sonny simply says, "Just one who wants to grow old with a boy instead of a girl."
They all agree it should be no big deal and get why Sonny is not going to make a big video on it, but at the same time it kind of is still a big deal to come out so publicly when you do a job like theirs.
"How about Andy, how did he respond?" Harvey asks Rye, who is drinking a coke and enjoying the sun.
Rye shrugs, "Didn't say much, just that it was brave of me. Didn't expect anything bad, Sunshine over there is his best mate after all."
"That's good." Harvey nods contently.
Sonny laughs, "It's not like he's straight either."
Rye frowns, "He isn't?" For some reason he had just assumed Andy liked lasses.
"Nah mate, he doesn't put a label on it but he swings all the ways." The raven haired lad laughs.
Andy not being straight is not a big deal, Rye isn't either, but it does give the brunette some stuff to think about. He never thought anything about the way Andy would sometimes glance at him, the way he would look at his abs shamelessly or the kisses he gave that one time. He just assumed Andy was a very affectionate person, which he can of course still be, but what if there's more? What if Andy looks at him like more than a friend?
Rye is well aware that assuming something like that is wrong. It's like a straight friend assuming his gay best friend must automatically have crush on him. The same way straight lads don't like every lass around, gay men don't like every dude they lay their eyes on either. Yet he can't help but wonder if maybe the glances they share are something more.
Maybe he likes Andy as more than a friend? Maybe that's why he can't help but question the nature of their relationship now that Andy is no longer straight in his eyes. Andy is good looking in a totally non model like way, which is a nice change from the guys Rye spends most of his time around when he's at work. Andy is funny and vibrant. He's bold and bossy. Rye can spend hours listening to him talk, or just sit in silence with him. If you were to ask him Rye could name a dozen of Andy's flaws, yet he wouldn't change a single one. So yes, he has a crush on his roommate and that scares him.
Andy is one of the best thing that has ever happened to him and this could change everything. Rye doesn't want anything to change, he likes things just the way they are. With all of his friends happy and thriving, with Andy eating dinner on the couch with him, but always forgetting to clean up his dishes and with out any added drama that crushes bring along.
