Part Ten

INT. MASTER BEDROOM - FAKE CASTLE - AMUSEMENT PARK - DREAM - SUNSET

A familiar setting. Orange light gives the balcony of the bedroom a golden color, just as it had before.

Daisy stands, staring out, once again, at the mountains. She looks down. The knife is still in her hand.

PAUL (O.S.)

Did Mom and Dad really take you here?

Daisy turns around. Paul stands in the doorway, looking in at the room. He is whole. Healthy. He begins to walk across the room to Daisy.

DAISY

(Breathlessly)

Paul...

PAUL

I mean, what kinda fun can you have in a place like this? This park is the stuff of nightmares.

He steps out onto the balcony and looks at Daisy.

PAUL

You're beautiful.

(A beat)

You've grown. And I like the hair color. It suits you.

Paul notices the knife in her hand.

DAISY

(Catching his eye)

Paul, I-

PAUL

(Looking out at the horizon)

No. Nah, this isn't how you wanna go. I mean, I'm not asking. Hell, I'm dead, but I'll tell you that slitting your wrists and letting yourself bleed out, no.

DAISY

But I-

PAUL

Daisy. I know that shit was rough before these pricks came here. You know that better than anyone, but you can't pretend that you were gonna end your own life because of how things were before.

DAISY

You don't understand.

PAUL

You want out because you need an escape right? From all of this. From them. But I will tell you, Daisy, I know you don't believe in God, but everything does happen for a reason.

DAISY

Then why did you die?

PAUL

I don't know. Someday, that will become clear. Someday I'll understand. But for now, I'm willing to make peace with the fact that I'm dead. But you're not. Life is testing you right now. This is your chance. This. Daisy. This will be the most important moment of your life. Because, this moment, it can be the last moment of Daisy Forester, or it can be the first. That choice is yours. Not many have that opportunity. I didn't.

DAISY

But Paul, they-

(A beat, choking up)
