The past couple of months had been an adventure for Rina Akamine, and as she walked to school, she had a feeling that she was only in for more. She walked alone at first, her blue black hair bobbing as she had a bit of a spring in her step that day. The weekend had been kind to her, she ended up spending most of it with her friends.
"Rinaaaaa!!!" A voice rang out from behind her.
Speaking of friends...
Yua Sato, Rina's best friend, sped into view, her long brown hair flying forward when she decided to skid to a halt.
"I didn't expect to see you this morning." Rina said with a smirk, "I thought mornings were reserved for your boyfriend."
"Not today, he's running a bit late." Yua responded, looking down.
Rina raised an eyebrow, it seemed that she was becoming less embarrassed about having a significant other.
"Did you have fun with him on the weekend?" Rina asked, steering the conversation in a more lighthearted direction.
"I did, yeah." Yua said with a genuine smile, "What about you? Have fun with Masaru this weekend?"
Rina felt her face heat up slightly, but she payed it no mind.
"Yeah, we had a good time. Suzu was with us too, so we all three had fun." She said casually.
"Oh, that does sound fun. Did you guys go to her place after?" Yua asked with a sly grin.
"Despite Suzu's best efforts, nothing untoward happened with anyone." Rina said with an annoyed frown.
"I'm sure she was disappointed." Yua said with a laugh.
"Why don't you ask her yourself?" Rina asked, pointing out that Suzu was just up ahead waiting for them.
Suzu Hirabayashi gave a wave and walked over with a smile on her face.
"H-hey!" She said, "We're all t-t-together in the morning again!"
She tilted her head, her dark green bob tilting with her.
"That's right, it's one of those rare occasions." Rina said with a smile back to her.
"I hear you tried to court Rina and Masaru this weekend!" Yua said with a thumbs up.
"W-w-well, I think we make a good t-trio!" Suzu replied, rubbing her legs together, "In m-more ways than one..."
Neither Rina nor Yua responded, and the walk to class went on like that, with them bantering as they always did, and getting to their seats just before the bell rang.
When lunch began, Suzu and Yua slid their desks over to Rina's, the same way they did almost every day.
"Is it just me, or does Miss Miyake seem out of it today?" Yua asked, watching their teacher leave the room.
"She did seem a bit distracted." Rina said, taking out her bento, "I hope she's ok."
"I g-g-guess even she can be bothered b-by something." Suzu said, seeming worried.
"I'm sure she'll be fine. Adults are good at sorting things out." Yua said, beginning to scarf down her food.
"I'm not so sure that's true..." Rina said, looking over at her friend.
Shortly afterwards, the door to the classroom opened, and someone walked inside. None of them needed to look, they already knew who the person was.
"Hey." A voice Rina had come to know all too well said.
Rina looked up, and sure enough, it was him.
