After they finished work, Nathan and Stana went to a drugstore to buy a pregnancy test. "You nervous?" Nathan asked after they returned home. "Yeah. You?" Stana gave back with a shaky voice. "A bit." Then there was a moment of silence. "Do you want me to stay with you or wait outside?" Nathan said and saw Stana jump slightly. "Stay with me... I don't want to do this alone." After that they finally got up the courage to walk from their spot infront of the door, to the bathroom. Stana unwrapped the test with shaky hands. She peed on the stick and laid it down next to the sink. Nathan had his arms wrapped around Stana as tight as possible until the alarm on his phone went off. Stana let go of a deep breath she didn't knew she was keeping and picked up the stick she was so scared of. As soon as she saw what was on it Stana closed her eyes and let the tear escape. "Hey, Stana it's ok..." Nathan laid his hands on her arms and pulled her in a bit, "it's ok. You're not doing this alone. I'm here." "I know, I-I... it's just... what if I'm not good enough?" Stana didn't want to look him in the eyes. "Don't say that, honey. You're the most amazing person I've ever met. You will be a fantastic mother." He lifted up her chin just enough to see the little smile on her lips. "And you will be an amazing Dad. We can do this right?" "Of course we can. Why are you even asking me that? We can do everything." "I love you." Stana kissed Nathan sweetly. "I love you too. How about we go to sleep now? We have a long day coming twomorrow." "If I can sleep on your side..." Nathan chuckled. "Of course you can."
When they laid snuggled up in the bed, Nathan wanted to tell her that everything would be fine, but he couldn't get up the courage to break their comfortable silence. "Thank you." Stana all of the sudden cut his thoughts. "For what?" He asked a little unsure and confused. "For always being here for me. I don't know, if I could have done that stuff today, if you hadn't been there." "Always... I love you Stana. And our baby I love just as much." "I love you too." Stana said and pressed her cheek closer into his chest as he softly kissed her hair.
Nathan's POV
The next morning I woke up, because of the bed moving next to me. I opened my eyes last second to see my beautiful wife rush into the bathroom with her hands infront of her mouth. I went after her, only to find her right next to the toilet with a horrible look on her face. "Hey, are you ok?" I asked Stana and slowly helped her up, wich resulted in Stana throwing up again. "No, I-I..." Stana almost started crying with the tears already in her eyes. "It's ok. I'm sorry." I whispered and held her close to my body. "Maybe I should make an appointment with a doctor." Stana mumbled after a few seconds of silence. "Yeah... If you want I can call Andrew and tell him that you're not feeling that well." "No. I'm okay. But we should probably tell him about the pregnancy." Stana said a little bit unsure about how to react to this whole thing. "Don't you think it's too soon? How about we go to that appointment first and then start telling everyone?" "K." Was the only answer I got, along with a slight nod against my chest. The next day Stana had been able to catch a doctor's appointment in the middle of their lunchtime, so no one would ask questions. Nathan came with her and they sat together in the waiting room, holding hands. "Stana Fillion!" A nurse called out and then led the couple into one of the examination rooms. "The Doctor will be here in a minute." She said and walked out again. "Hey, everything's gonna be alright." Nathan tried to soothe her down, when Stana sat down on the examination table, with a deep, shaky breath. She gave him a weak smile and squeezed his hand lightly as the door opened and revealed Dr. Regina Swan. The woman walked over to the couple waiting patiently for her arrival. "Hi Stana, how are you feeling?" "Better than this morning thanks. Oh and that's my husband Nathan Fillion." "Nice to meet you sir, it's a rare thing to have such prominent couples around you know." Stana and Nathan both chuckled a bit and were happy about the lighting in the mood. "So what's up, that you wanted to see me so urgent?" "Well, uhm... we just returned from our honeymoon a few days ago and I've kept feeling nauseous all the time, especially in the mornings and so we took a pregnancy test, just to be sure, wich was positive." Stana blurted out. "So you came to check if you are really pregnant." She more stated than asked. "Yeah, kind of." Nathan and Stana answered in sync. "Then let's get this check done, if you would please roll up your sleeve." Regina said and got up to take one of the needles to take a test of Stana's blood. "This may hurt a bit." She warned her patient before sticking the needle into one of the veins on Stana's arm, with a swift move. Nathan could feel how his wife squeezed his hand slightly when she felt the tiny sting of the cold metal. After she filled some of the red liquid into a little container, Dr. Swan put some cotton and tape onto the small wound and then walked out the room to bring the tester to the laboratory.
"This will probably take some time, so I would suggest that the two of you stay in the waiting room for a bit and I will talk to you as soon as I get the results." Dr. Swan said after she had returned to the room Nathan and Stana sat in. "I'm afraid we can't stay here, since we have work, but you could just call and we come back when you have the outcome of the test." Nathan gave back immediately. "I guess that would work too. In that case I'll see you later." They all stood up, shook hands and said their goodbyes before Nathan and Stana went outside to their car.
On their way back to the set Stana was unusually quiet. "Hey, are you ok?" Nathan asked a bit worried after about half of the ride. "Huh... oh... I... I-uhm... I was just thinking..." Stana mumbled back a bit taken aback by his sudden question. "'Bout what?" There was a short moment of silence in the car. "Nothing, just..." "Just what?" "I'm not sure I-we can really do this..." "Ok." Nathan just commented without any sign of emotion. "It's not that I don't think that you wouldn't be a gorgeous dad, it's just that... our parents live on the other side of the country, yours even on another continent. I'm not sure how to this without having anyone around that knows what could help..." Stana said with a heavy sigh. "I know this seems scary. I'm scared too, but I cannot believe we wouldn't be able to deal with a baby." Nathan said, slipping his hand into hers and giving her a reassuring smile, without taking his eyes away from the road infront of them. She smiled back and they drove the rest of the way in silence.
Nathan's POV
Four hours later we were in the examination room again. Half an hour ago Stana had gotten a call from Dr. Swan, that the test results were finally there. We drove to the clinic immediately and were led to the same room as before. After two, maybe three minutes, the doctor already came in. You could almost see the air sparkling with tension and anxiety. Dr. Swan opened a folder, looked at it for a second and then finally spoke to us. "Congratulations Mrs. Fillion, you're pregnant."
