"Oh my god,"
Cas was just now seeing Dean's handy work from the night before. He traced his fingers over the reddish-purple, circle shaped bruise that was just above his collarbone. The neckline of his tee shirt didn't cover it and it was way too hot to wear something with a collar.
As Cas ran his fingers over the bruise trying to figure out ways to hide the very prominent mark, then he smiled remembering what Dean had said about it the previous night. He recalled what he had said to Dean over the phone and his grin grew wider. Unfortunately they would have to wait until Sam left before they could do anything, but his surprise could wait.
Cas got ready for the day and went up to Dean's apartment that afternoon. He knocked on the door, surprised to see Sam open it..
"Oh hey Cas, uh... Dean's actually not here right now."
"What? Why?"
"He forgot he had classes or something."
"Of course he did... Is it alright if I come in?"
Sam stepped aside to let Cas enter. He kicked off his shoes and pushed them neatly together before taking a seat on one of the couches.
"How long has he been gone for?" Cas asked.
"An hour or so, he should be back in about another two though," sam walked over to the couch and sat down on the opposite end.
Castiel nodded his head. The two of them sat there awkwardly before Cas had an idea.
"You're sixteen right?"
"Yeah, why?" Sam asked.
"Do you know how to drive yet?"
"Uh... No."
"Want to learn?"
"Seriously?" Sam's eyes lit up in excitement.
"Yeah, why not?"
Cas drove them out into the country, far from any busy roads and parked the car. He started showing Sam all the basic parts of the car and out to use them.
"...and that's your break," Castiel finished as Sam got out of the car and switched sides. Sam looked excited but nervous. He buckled his seatbelt and sat up straight in his seat, putting his hands on the wheel. Lightly, he put his foot down on the pedal and the car jolted forward, startled, Sam removed his foot quickly.
"Sorry," he apologized.
"No it's alright just make sure to let your foot off slowly."
Sam nodded and tried again. It only took Sam about 20 minutes to get driving down pretty well. They still went fairly slow for safety purposes but it went surprisingly smooth for the first time.
"Okay let's try going a little faster," Cas suggested.
Sam pressed the pedal down a little harder and the car surged forward.
"You are really getting the hang of this,"
"Really?" Sam questioned, keeping his eyes on the road.
"Yeah, I almost crashed the first time I tried driving," Cas chuckled, thinking back to the incident. Sam smiled and nodded. All of a sudden Sam's phone started ringing.
"Who is it?" He asked Cas.
"It's Dean, pull over here," Cas pointed to a grassy part on the side of the road and Sam carefully parked the car there. Castiel handed Sam his phone and they switched sides again. Cas started up the car and turned it around. He heard Dean's muffled voice through Sam's phone.
