The day seemed to go by extremely quick for Cas but that just could be because he had something to look forward to. Before he knew it his work shift was over and he was on his way back to his apartment.
He made sure to stop at the grocery store reminding himself that he was low on food, he spent forever deciding what to get for dinner with Dean. Finally Castiel got home around 8:30 with bags of food that he soon remembered he had to carry up 8 flights of stairs. It was going to take a few trips to get all the food up to his apartment so he decided to take the heavy things first and get it over with.
Cas started grabbing bags from the trunk of his car when his phone started buzzing in his pocket. It was Dean of course.
"Want some help?" Dean asked as soon as he answered the phone.
"You really are my personal stalker aren't you?" He said looking up towards Dean's apartment to see him standing on the balcony.
"Well that's what happens when you leave a guy hanging like that," Dean retorted.
Cas laughed a little at Dean's comment and sighed, it was like a breath of fresh air to hear his voice.
"Do you want some help or not?" Dean said, snapping Cas out of his trance.
"Oh...uh... Yeah that would be great, thanks."
Dean hung up and a few minutes later he walked out the door and started towards Castiel's car, trying to hold back a smile. He stood awkwardly in front of Cas with his hands in his jeans pockets and peered into the car, his eyes widened.
"Jesus Christ man, how much food do you need?" He laughed.
"I haven't gone grocery shopping in a while."
"Yeah, no shit."
Dean grabbed four bags and started heading back to the building, Cas grabbed the last few bags, closed the trunk and hurried to catch up with Dean.
"Race you to your apartment!" Dean yelled once they were both inside.
"Oh it's on!"
The two men raced up the eight flights of stairs like ten year olds, laughing until their sides ached. They collapsed at the top each struggling to fill their lungs with air and their eyes watering from laughter.
standing on shaky legs they headed to Castiel's apartment. Cas opened the door and held it for Dean, following close behind. He shut the door lightly and brought the bags into the kitchen, setting them on the counter forgetting to put them away.
Castiel headed to his couch and sat cross legged on the cushion; Dean followed closely.
Cas turned so the two were face to face with each other, making eye contact.
"So about last night," Dean said, breaking the silence.
"Yes, about last night."
Dean leaned in close causing shivers all down his spine and his stomach to do backflips.
"Like I said, you can't leave a guy hanging like that," he whispered
Cas' heart was beating so fast that he thought it might break through his chest and his pants involuntarily became a little tighter.
Dean noticed Castiel's reaction and smirked.
"I thought about you all last night," he added for good measure. Castiel's face heated up but he didn't look away. "Couldn't get you off my mind." Dean grabbed Castiel's wrists and gently pulled him closer, resting his forehead on Cas' and looking down into his bright blue eyes. Cas looked away only for a moment, blushing but Dean lifted his chin back up and pushed their lips together.
