The Boss

Chapter 4 Act Normal

After yesterday's incident, I attempted to avoid our beloved boss. If what happened got around the office I'd be the new target on most of these girls hit list.

We never talked about going public in the office, it would be hard to explain why we broke it off so soon. On the other hand his mother might question one of the workers. Every scenario flashes through my head, there are so many loose ends that could make this plan fall apart. If that happens I'll never get my promotion, yet again I'll have to do everything in my power to make sure we do this right.

I get up and walk towards his office, when I get there I see he's finishing up a meeting with some of my female coworkers. They are shamelessly flirting with him like usual. On a regular day this wouldn't bother me but since I have my promotion on the line and the fact that they are taking up my time by stalling for more time with the boss, is irritating me.

I clear my throat loud enough for them to hear, the girls glare at me while the Boss gives me a surprised look. I don't know why he's so surprised we work in the same office. I was bound to come here sooner or later. I walk into the room and stand in front of them, I can see the girls are more irritated by my presence than I am of theirs.

"Can we help you? We are kind of in an important meeting right now."

"Really because by the looks of it you just finished."

Her brows furrow more, it takes all my strength to keep from pulling that classic line 'don't furrow your eyebrows you'll get wrinkles'. An iconic line that would be perfect for this moment, but that's not what I'm here for.

"We were going over follow up questions. So if you don't mind leaving, he'll be free later."

"Yea no can do, I need to talk to my boy- I mean boss now, it's very important. It's about that thing we discussed last week."

"Oh that thing right we didn't finish. Sorry ladies, that's all the time I have for our meeting, I'll see you next week ok."

The girls leave reluctantly giving me a suspicious look as they go. I can't believe I almost blew our cover, and from the look on Jaehyun's face he knows I almost did as well.

"For your sake I'm going to forget you almost called me your boyfriend, now what did you need to tell me?"

"Well I was thinking about the plan and I realised that there are some holes in it. Holes that your mom can use to see right through us."

"Have a seat."

I sit down across from him and begin to spill what's been on my mind.

"Ok for one we didn't tell anyone in the office, she could easily ask someone and they'll give us away. That's the major one, we also need to tell those close to us because from what I've heard she's going to thoroughly check to see if us being together is true. We also need to take pictures together and post them. I can do it on my social media and tag you since you might not want it spreading too far. It helps that my account is private and that you have a private one too."

"Is that all?"

"That's all I can think of for now."

"Ok get the rumour spreading and I'll plan a day for us to take a couple pictures. you can leave now."

I get up feeling satisfied with how our little meeting turned out, as I get to the door I hear Jaehyun say something.

"You look cute today by the way."

I freeze in my spot, I look behind me to see him smiling at me. I turn around and walk out of his office to my desk. Once I sit down I turn to Kate and we hatch a plan to spread the rumour of me and the boss dating.

At 2 pm every day the office gossip girl stalks the kitchen by the water cooler to see if she can pick up on any new rumours. We wait for the right time to strike and head over to the kitchen, we notice her huddled near the water cooler.

"Ok no one is here to tell me this big secret already."

"Okay okay you've always been good at convincing me to tell you things Kate."

"Now spill y/n."

"Fine. I'm dating Jaehyun."

"Are you serious? for how long?"

"About a year now we have been thinking about whether or not we should tell the office. His moms been on his case about dating since she didn't know we were together. He told her but she doesn't believe that it's real, if she asks one of the workers they won't know and that'll only fuel her idea that we're making our relationship up."

"That sucks, don't worry the office will be very accepting and then his mom will get off your case."

"I hope you're right Kate, let's go back to the office before someone comes."

We walk back to our shared cubicle and wait for our little gossip girl to spread the news. I start on the other issues and change my relationship status for all my close friends and family to see.

In no time my noisy mother sends me a text about who this mysterious person is and when she can meet them. If all goes well we can have dinner on Saturday.

With that done I sent Jaehyun cute pictures of me to use as a screensaver and his profile picture on whats app. With the basics out of the way we go into the week ready for anything.

By Wednesday the rumour had spread through the whole building, When I walked in I could feel everyone's eyes on me. The girls from Mondays 'meeting' were glaring at me even harder, it was like the hit on my head they gave me for interrupting their time with Jaehyun grew larger.

Throughout the rest of the week people kept coming up to me asking questions about our relationship, I've never been this popular in my life.

The only place where I could get peace and quiet was in Jaehyun's office, it was like every time someone realised that I was in there they left us alone. They probably thought we were making out or something and didn't want to intrude, at this point I couldn't care less. They didn't question our relationship and the looks Jaehyun sends me definitely help.

Everyday after work we went out and took pictures which we posted to our private social media. Jaehyun had one specifically for friends and family which he made me follow. We replaced our profile pictures making them a photo of both of us. We were marketing our relationship perfectly all we had to do was convince our family, starting with mine.
