No words without silence

Chapter 9 - SURPRISE

Took me a while but here's a new chapter! I just don't want to rush this story because a lot of it is real...

'SURPRISE!'

Everyone yelled while Sadie walked into her unrecognizable house.

She had the biggest smile on her face, visibly surprised.

'Wow! This is... this is awesome!'

Everybody laughed at her.
Almost all of our friends where here, it was a group of nearly a hundred people.
We only missed Hannah.
We REALLY missed Hannah.
It just didn't feal the same without her.

I tried not to think about it and to just have fun but it was really hard.
This would really have an impact on her, especially now that she had to sit still and could do nothing to distract herself.

'Thanks so much guys! I really did not expect this!'

We all hugged Sadie and I grapped my phone to turn on the music.

Señorita, by Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello was the first song that played.
Almost everybody knew the lines and started to dance.

The party had begun.

'I'm a sucker for you!'

Everybody, the group of almost a hundred people, screamed the line.

The party would later be known as the best one this whole year.

We had not heard from Hannah, and although it bothered me a lot, I managed to hide it in the back of my head quite well.
I just focused on the party.

'Hey, Ave!'

It was Jacob.

I turned around slowly, trying to prepare myself for the fact that he probably had brought a date anyway.

'Jake!
...And only Jake.'
I muttered the last part under my breath.

I flashed him a smile while he came closer, smiling at me too.

'I haven't seen you in a few days. I mean, not since I asked you if I should bring a date.'

His smile turned a little insecure.

'Yeah, uhm...
I was really busy with this party and stuff...'

I couldn't finish my sentence, because he stepped closer and his hand touched my forearm.

'Ave? What is the real reason you haven't talked to me since then?'

'Uhm, well...
I thought you had asked a date to this party and that made me kind of upset.'

My voice became increasingly quiet, while the smile on his face only seemed to grow.

'Ave! I aksed if I should bring a date. As in: is it mandatory?
Besides, I would never want to bring one of those lame girls.
I'd rather go with you.'

Now it was his turn to lower his voice. And even though he was almost whispering and even though the music was very loud, I could understand him perfectly.

We both turned red and his arm grapped my elbow, sending electricity through my body again, to pull me closer to him.

His warm breath stroked my ear when he spoke, or actually, whispered.

'Sorry for being unclear.'

This sent shivers through my body again, which he clearly noticed, since his hand was still resting on my elbow.

He smirked, pulling back from my ear, only to brush my hair out of my face with his free hand.

He knew exactly what he was doing, and he knew his effect on me.

His dark grey eyes searched in mine for a more striking response.

I felt good, I felt safe and Jake was the only thing I could think of.

I bit my bottom lip, something I seemed to do a lot when concentrating, while thinking about how I could make this moment last forever.

His eyes seemed to soften while looking at my lip when I bit it.
He stared into my eyes again, not searching for anything this time, just enjoying the silence.

And for the first time in a very long time it felt okay to say nothing. I could actually enjoy the silence.

He looked at my lips again while pulling me even closer in the crowd of people, still dancing and partying.
I slowly started to lean in closer to him while I looked into his eyes, smiling.

There was almost no space left between us so I could smell his sweet breath.
I moved closer to him, trying to fill the gab while slowly closing my eyes.

'Valerie! We need you! Now!'

'What?'

I yelled back at Summer, while I moved away from Jacob against my will.
I was really annoyed that she had just ruined this moment.

'It's Hannah.'

The latter came out of her mouth with a much softer volume, but it came in much louder.
