Saving Amina

Nine.

After spending a few more days with Amina and going with her to visit Nova, Chadwick was finally back at home with his wife, Monica. For some reason the vibe in his household felt a little off, and he couldn't figure out why. He wanted to believe that she was still upset about him spending so much time with Amina, but he had a feeling something else was going on with him.

Tonight, he decided to take Monica out on a date. The two of them haven't been out on a day in a while, and Chadwick wanted to make sure that Monica knew that she still had all of his love and attention.

"You look beautiful, honey." Chadwick said coming up behind Monica, wrapping his arms around her and kissing on her neck. Monica seemed to have ignored him completely, continuing to put on her jewelry. Monica was completely spaced out, thinking about the current situation she was in currently. She was in a loveless marriage, on her part, having an affair, pregnant, and she didn't know who the father of her child is. She was trying to figure out how to explain all of this to her husband, but all of the sweet gestures he's been making towards her is making her feel more and more guilty.

She was torn between staying with a man she was no longer in love with, so she can continue to live the financial life she's always wanted, and has become accustomed too, or does she leave him for the man she loves, who can't give her all of the materialistic things she wanted.

Chadwick sighed, backing away from her, and she walked away from him, going into the closet. He sat down the the bed, and grabbed his phone off of the night stand, next to the bed and saw that he had a text message from Amina. He smiled opening the message, and saw that it was a picture of Nova holding a drawing of a person.

"She wanted me to send you a picture of her drawing of favorite person, Mr. Chad!" -Amina

He zoomed in on the picture, and laughed realizing that the drawing was actually suppose to be him. He couldn't explain how much joy and love he felt with it came to Nova. He was really starting to love and care for her as his own. "Who's got you so smiley over there?" Monica asked, walking back into the room. She already figured that it was Amina, she just wanted to see if he was going to lie to her about it.

Chadwick look at her, stood up from the bed, and showed her the picture on his phone. "Nova drew a picture of me. Amina and her are going to mail it to me tomorrow morning, because Nova doesn't want to wait until the next time I went to visit them."

"Next time?" She asked, looking up at him, and he nodded his head. "You've been going to see her a lot lately."

"Mo'. I already have to go for work, you know that, so why not go see Amina and Nova as well?" He said, causing her to roll her eyes. "I also need to help Amina with work stuff. She can't be an official accountant without her degree, so I'm helping her until she's able to do that."

"I don't understand why they can't have someone else, who actually works there to help the girl. Also, you know all of this traveling is going to have to stop, I could have this baby at any moment." Chadwick just stared at her, as she continued to rant. "Monica, you're not even eight months yet." He thought to himself, but he didn't interrupt her. He knew that it would be best to let her get her feelings out now, rather than having her bring it up later at dinner. After Monica had finished her rant, and Chadwick apologized and showered her in kisses, the two of them finally went out for the evening.

Amina was sitting in her hotel room, drinking a glass of wine and reading out of one of her textbooks. She had just started her online classes for school, so she could get her promotion. She was beyond grateful for her boss paying for her to go to school, so she was taking it very serious. She had also told Child Services that she had found a well paying job, and they told her once she had saved enough money to get a suitable place to live for the both of them, and continued to show proof of employment, Nova would be back with her in no time.
