School the next week was, as usual, boring. Filled with droning teachers, chaotic and hormonal teens and crappy cafeteria food. Gabriela found herself asking for everything to just finish quickly. Because honestly, the school was being a pain.
Especially right now.
Gabby sat in the middle of Bella and Angela who was all engaged in a conversation with Jessica, who sat at the other side, facing the trio. To say she found the preppy brunette annoying would be an understatement. She detested her. She was like an attention seeker who masks it behind her over-achiever personality—like that was any better.
Munching on her crisps, she almost choked when Eric pushed Anglea over to drape an arm on her shoulders, a wide smile on his lips.
"La Push, baby, you in?" Eric sang, zooming his face right at Gabby's as she shrugged his arm off, only for him to put it behind her chair. Sighing, she dusted her fingers as she said.
"What about La Push?"
"We're all going after school, there's a big wave coming," Mike said, his eyes sporting the same hopeful glint he had when he asked the Swan twins to prom.
"And yes, I don't just surf the internet," Eric says, his lanky arms moving into a surfing pose, "There's more to this geek facade." A smug smile paints his face as he glanced over to Mike when Gabby snorted.
"You literally stood up once and it was on a foam board," Jessica said, eyes rolling playfully. But Eric ignored her.
"La Push, Baby."
"Oh, and there's also whale-watching!" Angela exclaims, looking over to the two girls. "Please come!"
"La Push, Baby." Eric once again says, face moving closer to Gabby again. To which she responded with an apple slice being shoved into his mouth as she pushed his face away.
"First off; Eric, stop saying that, second; I'll come, it's been a while since I've been to La Push so why not. And third; excuse me, I'm going to get another apple."
Moving to the salad and fruit bar, her pale hands bumps with another's as they grabbed for the apple as well.
"I'm sorry—Oh." Gabby started, before her face drops into a small scowl, "It's you."
"I see you don't like me." Edward chuckled.
"Really and what gave you that idea?"
He didn't answer but the smile and chuckled he supplied meant he was well amused with Gabby's antics.
"Look, I'm really sorry, for the conversation you heard between Bella and me."
"Not my business, but maybe you should fix how you talk to people."
"I was just saying that you and Bella should avoid my family and me, it's for the best."
"Excuse me?"
Sighing, Edward leans on the bar as he faced Gabby.
"I said if you're smart enough both of you would avoid Jasper and I or any of our family members," He said.
"Alright and if—just for argument's sake—we were painfully dim and couldn't catch a hint, would both of you still talk to either one of us?"
"Well, I have to admit, your sister's theories are quite the bee's knees."
Gabby snorts.
"The bee's knees? Okay, Grandpa, it's no kryptonite or radioactive spider, but Bells has always been a curious child."
