Edward and Bella were casually talking one afternoon as they washed her truck. The soft buzz of the boombox in the background perfectly fills the atmosphere. It was a lovely afternoon both her father and sister were out, and she had the whole house to herself. Not that they were horrible company, it was just that she wanted to have some time to herself and Edward without trying to hide him from the two.
Smirking playfully, Bella aims the water hose towards him, however with her luck, she misses and hits the car window instead and splashes herself in the end. Edward chuckles as he watches her glare at her reflection and then at him. He stood up from his spot at the truck roof as he placed his hand under the front fender, popping the dent out.
"Thanks," Bella says as she wipes her face with her button-up. Edward nods and kisses her forehead as he smiles gently at her.
"You look like you have a question. What is it?" He murmurs as he watches her eyes.
"Can I tell my sister about you?"
Edward smiles widely and says,
"Just give us some time, then you can most definitely tell your sister about us."
"I hate having to keep hiding you around and lying about meeting Angela and Jessica when I'm really going to see you," Bella pouted as she looked over to her side, watching their figures through the car window. She wasn't arrogant or egomaniacal, yet she couldn't help think that they looked like a picture-perfect couple.
"You won't have to. If you'd like, we can make it official Saturday night." Bella pulls away from him as she stares.
"What do you mean?"
"Come to my house on Saturday," He says. Bella widens her eyes as she feels her heart beat faster.
"Your house? With your family?"
"Yes, meet them. Let's make it official," Edward repeats as he takes her hand.
"But, what if they don't like me?" She frets, looking up at him.
"You're worried, not because you'll be in a houseful of vampires, but because you think they won't approve of you?" He laughs heartily, his eyes gazing at her fondly as she scowls playfully at him.
"I'm glad I amuse you," Bella answers as she turns her head away from him. He laughs harder and goes to speak. However, he stops and looks up.
"What's wrong?" Bella asks worriedly.
"There seems to be a complication," Edward says as he shakes his head and smiles, then mutters a goodbye. "I'll see you at school."
Bella watches Edward get into his car and drive away, just in time as a black car rolls up and parks. Jacob helps Billy get down from the truck. However, the man stares at the spot where Edward's car was parked before, as he then turns his gaze at Bella.
"Hello, Bella, how are you?" Billy greets her.
"I'm good, Billy. How are you?"
"Good, good." He answers, his eyes filled with suspicion. Bella, uncomfortable, changes the subject as she turns towards Jacob.
"Come to visit your truck?"
"It looks good. You got that dent out." Jacob says, blushing slightly, as he realised that the girl was smiling and staring at him.
"Actually, we came to visit your flat screen. It's the first Mariners game of the season. Plus, Jacob here kept bugging me to see you again," Billy says as he turns a playful gaze towards his son, who scowls at him and sighs.
"Great, Dad. Thanks." Jake says, earning a chuckle from Bella.
As they continued to make small talk, Charlie's police cruiser drives into the driveway. And out came Sophia, Gabby and Charlie.
