Chapter 7

Joes PoV
J: can I see her please
D: yeah you can I just want to warn you she is hooked up to a lot of machines wires and tubes so don't be frightened when you see her
J: ok thanks

The doctor lead me down a long hall was to the intensive care unit and to a door I opened it to see a huge room with the love of my life in the middle on a small single bed hooked up to machines that were beeping, an IV pole with liquids draining onto her, there is a tube down her throat hooked up to a machine breathing for her and a tube down her nose feeding her into her intestines. I looked past all the machines and ran over to her and grabbed her hand, over and over I repeated "it's going to be ok" " you are going to be ok" and I just wanted her to answer but she couldn't.

The doctor left us alone and I sat with her for hour until I felt her hand move ever so slightly and I looked at her as her eyes opened and a look of panic crossed her face, I immediately said "it's ok I'm here there's a tube breathing for you so relax and we will get it removed" I saw the panic calm slightly then I got up and pressed the nurse button on the side of her bed. Not long after the doctor and 2 nurses came in ready to remove the tube.

Doctor: ok dianne so we need to take this out but you need to relax ok
She nodded slightly
Nurse: on the count of 3 we are going to pull it out as fast as possible and once it's out you need to take a deep breath
Nurse: ok, 1...2...3...
Doctor: breath dianne take a deep breath

I saw her breath in and instantly pain spread across her face and she started crying

Doctor: I know it must hurt but we will get you some more pain meds now and you should be able to rest some more cos you have had a long 2 days

Diannes PoV

I woke up to find myself no being able to breathe but then I realised something was breathing for me I sat joe sat next to me with my hand in his. When he noticed I had woken up he jumped up and told me "it's ok I'm here there's a tube breathing for you so relax and we will get it removed" his voice made me feel so much better.

A doctor and 2 nurses came in and explained everything that was going to happen I closed my eyes and they pulled the tube out quickly as I took a breath it felt like someone was stabbing at my throat. They went and got me some pain killer and joe tried to explain what aha happened when I heard what the doctors have said I panicked all I could think was: what about my career: will I be able to dance again: I can't live without dance. I fell asleep panicking as I was exhausted

Joe gently woke me up and said I needs to go have some tests done so they would have to put me under anaesthetic this worried me a bit but I knew everything would be ok as long as I was with joe

Joes PoV

To be truthful I was scared out of my mind at the thought of dianne having all these tests but I knew it would make it worse if I panicked, it would make her feel more nervous than she already was so I decided to be as calm as possible around her
