Chapter 10- Answering machine.
Pulling her keys from her purse, Becca opened her front door sleepily and stepped inside. She threw down her bag and kicked her shoes off and locked the door again. She searched for the light switch that was on the wall somewhere on the left. She found it and flicked the switch so the light would come on. She walked up to her answering machine, she had three messages. She couldn't listen to them nowas she was too exhausted from such a long drive, though she wasn't driving.
She walked further down the hallway and into the kitchen and grabbed a couple of biscuits before walking upstairs. She walked straight into her bathroom and nibbled on the edge of a biscuit looking in the mirror at her reflected self. She was glad she wore make up as she was looking very pale now that her make up had started to come off slightly.
She started running a nice hot bath and finised her biscuits before undressing and climbing in the hot blissful water. She has had a long and stressful but brilliant day. As she sits back thinking about what happened today she couldn't help but reflect upon what Alan's lips felt like. His lips were very soft and smooth like he would chap them daily just for the right opertune moment. They held a light shade of pink though it wasnt that noticable unless you were in the situation you were in with him.
You blushed a deep crimson and sunk further into the foamy water, dipping your head under the water. You tried to wash away the thoughts for now as you knew this would be a thing to keep you from sleeping at night. Why did he have to go and do that and why did I let him? Not that I had a problem with him kissing me, he could do it as much as he wanted I was just shocked that after such a long time he made an advance in our friendship. Friendship? Is that what it is now or is it something more.
Becca shock her head underneath the water and began to rise again and washed herself and her hair and got out the bath and dried herself and got into a clean pair of pyjamas and went to lay in bed. She pulled out her mobile and place it on the bed side cabinet. She climbed into bed and set an alarm ready for work tomorrow morning. Why did she not book the next day off as well? She sighed feeling slightly stupid. She rolled over and faced the cabinet and looked at her phone. She grabbed it and unlocked the phone and started at the contact list. She scrolled until she got further down the A list. She saw Alan's number. She stopped scrolling and just stared at the newly added to contact and just did nothing but looked at it. Nothing was crossing her mind nor was she doing anything but continually looking at the phone.
She snapped out of her stare after what felt like a few minutes but in actual fact it had been 2 and a half hours of staring at Alan's number. She put the phone down again and looked to the clock. 1:30 AM, she sighed as she thought she had to be up soon. She rolled away from the cabinet and layed on the oppoiste side of the bed and tried to sleep. Nothing crossed her mind as her eyes gradually began to close.
The alarm sounded at 7 and Becca lazily rolled over and turned off the alarm and drug herself out of bed and into her bathroom. She got washed and dressed and sleepily walked down the stairs to the kitchen and boiled the kettle making herself a cup of tea. The toaster popped and was ready for the warm buttery-ness and jam to be layered up on it wake her up. SHe sat at the dinning table and ate alone and sipped lightly on her tea before heading to the answering machine to see what those three messages were.
One was her mother asking her how her time was. She will answer that when she returns from work. One was some network company she was not interested in and the other scared her.
It was Ronald, threatening her. She paused the recording and rewound it to the begging in case her ears were deciving her.
"Becca, this is your final warning. Go out with me or I swear to god I will get a mob to burn down your house and come to hunt you and 'Lover boy' down and torture you both. Tell me your answer at work tomorrow." That was it. She stood still wide eyed and scared. Well scared was an understatement, she was petrified. She deleted all messages and grabbed her keys, put her shoes on and left for work dreading what might happen.
