While the rest of the kids my age were hanging out. I was adjusting to being a first-time mom. It was definitely a struggle in the beginning; especially with breastfeeding and getting my daughter on a schedule. Athena was a screamer when she was hungry or sleepy, it drove me nuts to the point my mom would come in a take her so I can have a moment to breathe and get my mind back on track. I appreciated her for that despite our issues. I guess that "not helping" shit went out the window after the hospital visit, she even picked me up from the hospital when we got discharged.

The first month after Athena was born, she tried numerous times to get Rocko to hold Athena but he always found an excuse to not hold her. My guess, the guilt was too much, he couldn't hold what he created. Honestly, I didn't want him holding my baby. It's bad enough that they shared the same DNA.

Before I got pregnant, I had major plans and goals. I was suppose to go on a college tour down south for two weeks with my school during summer break. They were stopping at Clark Atlanta University, my top pick of schools I wanted to attend. Now, my main focus is making sure my daughter has everything she needs while constantly fighting off Rocko's pedophile ass. After graduation, I planned on getting the hell out of Riverborn with my baby.

After finishing up with my last client of the night, I arrived home around 1 a.m. irritated that it took two extra hours to do their hair because they wanted to stop and do other things than sit still and get their hair done.

I gotta catch the bus with a baby!

It was Fourth Of July weekend and people were already cutting up with the fireworks and guns and I didn't have time to play "Gunshots or Fireworks" with a one month-old baby with me.

I charged her an extra $25 for the inconvenience and went on about my way. Every dollar that I made went to Athena and the secret stash that I had tucked away. If you wee going to waste my time I was going to charge you for it.

As I fumbled with the keys to get in the house, I didn't see my mother's car in the driveway and instantly went in alert mode. I prayed to God that she was home and  Rocko took the car to go hang out for the night. The door swung open and Rocko was standing in the doorway smoking a blunt smiling at me with that devilish grin. I guess I wasn't praying hard enough.

I rolled my eyes at him and snapped, "Are you going to help me with YOUR baby!" I shouted with a smack of my lips. "Or you just gonna stand there?" Athena was sound asleep unbothered by the commotion between us and low key I was happy. I don't need her crying right now. A headache was already starting to form in my frontal lobe.

"I see you got jokes." He smirked and carefully lifted the stroller in the house so he didn't wake the baby and placed it by the coffee table. He started to unbuckle Athena and I swapped his hand away.

"I got it. Thank you." Facing the stroller in my direction and unbuckling her myself. She stayed asleep as I carried her into my bedroom and placed her in her bassinet next to my bed.

"I don't know why you were doing all that yelling. Ya mother not here." Rocko stepped in my doorway and leaned against it.

I turned and caught him checking out my ass again. I was disgusted by his presence and wanted him to leave, "I wasn't yelling so my momma could hear me. I was hoping one of these nosey ass neighbors heard me." There go that smart ass mouth of the mine.  "I'm sure she'll believe them since she doesn't wanna take my word for  any of the shit you do around here."

That smile quickly left his face. "That mouth of yours is going to get you in a lot of trouble." He warned as pointed his dirty finger in my direction and stepped away.
