Chapter 20 | Bacon!

Good Advice by The Growlers starts to play as I stir in my sleep. I feel a warmth from the sun on my skin and a slight cool yet warm breeze comes in from my cracked window. A smaller yet warmer breeze is felt on my neck as I slowly become aware of my surroundings.

I rub my eyes and stretch when I feel something behind me. I turn my head to see a sleeping Elijah by my side.

Oh my lord.

My laptop shifts by my moving feet and I quickly turn off my alarm and Elijah starts to wake beside me. What time is it?

I check my phone which is very conveniently not plugged in and almost dead when I see 9:52 am on the clock, Sunday morning.

"What time is it?" A deep groggy voice speaks up.

Elijah stirs as his surroundings slowly come into the light and I notice his arm had been wrapped around my waist.

"Um... it's 9:50" I say, not sure how to approach the whole situation.

His phone starts to ring and he quickly gets up to answer the phone, "Vinnie."

I head Vinnie's voice on the other end, "Where the fuck are you man? You disappeared yesterday and you weren't at home when I woke up."

Elijah groans, still not being completely awake yet, "I'm fine. I'm," he looks around and our eyes lock together, the situation finally registering with him, "I'm at Alora's house. I just woke up."

"Did you just say-"

"Yea, Vinnie I'll call you later. I'm good." Elijah hangs up the phone after hearing an okay from Vinnie then slumps in place while we both just look at each other.

He looks — different. His eyes are a bit foggy but his skin bright. His hair is disheveled and all over the place. He looks almost, normal.

I giggle at the look of him and receive a confused look back.

"What's so funny?"

"You woke up in a random bed, a mess in relativity to how you looked before right now and you still look better than most people." I shake my head as I realize what I must look like.

My eyes widen as I quickly take a pillow and cover my face and fall back into bed. "I must look completely horrendous right now oh my god."

He chuckles before prying the pillow off my face, "I promise you look great."

I roll my eyes as a I hear a knock on my door. Who is that? My parents?!

"Alora, you better be decent. You're late for our run." Grant's voice says opening the door. His eyes widen but it's quickly replaced by a look of amusement. "Oh, well look at this. We can skip the run today I guess."

"It's not what it looks like!" I say quickly.

"If you say so. Your mom, dad, and Nonna left a little while ago to go visit some friends so they probably won't be back all day." He trails off before giving Elijah a small but amused look, "I'm gonna over to a friend's."
