Chapter 7 | Definitely Not An Asshole
So remember earlier when I said this week couldn't get any weirder? Well, I lied because this is something, and that something is not normal.
Elijah had given me a ride to school which meant getting in his car which meant getting out of his car which meant being seen with him. In total it means being seen with the most 'popular' boy in the school -- if you can even call it that.
All morning people have been whispering about it. People who haven't spoken to me are suddenly saying hi to mask the staring and my best friends are all over my case.
But seriously, do these people have nothing else to do? Oh of course not, it's high school.
I got to school early since Elijah had something to do, something about the principal. So I've been hanging in the cafeteria with Bella and Abby trying to avoid all the weirdness.
"So we're just going to completely ignore the fact that you rode to school with the Elijah Peral?" Bella blurts, interrupting Abby's rant about her teacher.
"Yep. We're going to not talk about it and move on."
"C'mon Alora, the people wanna know," Bella argues.
"I do kind of want to know." Abagail joins in.
"That's too bad then for you guys. Now can we just drop it, to be honest, I wouldn't even be able to give you an explanation."
"Alright fine, but you have to promise to talk to us about all future things."
"And explain what's happened up until today," Abby adds in.
"Of course, I promise. Now can we start going, I don't want to be late to first period." I get up from the chairs and sling my bag over my shoulder.
"Yes, let's go." Bella does the same then we wait for Abby to collect her things. She was freaking out all morning about his test she has 7th period. I think her exact words were 'I would thank the heavens and marry the person who could get me out of this test.' I swear my friends are too extra for their own good, I love it.
"Since we're talking about Elijah,"
"Not talking about Elijah." Bella sadly adds in,
"Yeah, since we're not, let's talk about his friend." Abby smiles, "He's a total hottie."
"Vinnie?" I ask.
She smiles, "Yeah."
"Someone has a crush on the new kid." I tease.
She rolls her eyes, "Oh please, I don't even know him."
"Then talk to him," Bella says, sharing her obvious solution.
"It's not that simple."
"It can be. Don't you have first period with him?" Bella argues.
"Yeah?"
"Bella's right. Just talk to him then."
"Okay. Yeah. I will." Abigail smiles, a new sense of confidence washing over her.
"Good for you girly. Go for it."
"I'm a genius. I swear." Bella whispers in amazement to herself.
We all laugh with her and continue on our long journey to class since we're all in the same hallway.
"I wonder what he's like. What if he's a total douche?"
"I hope not, I'm paired up with him for psychology second period."
