Chapter 23 | You're So Special To Me
"What time is it?" I mumble to myself as I work to open my eyes and find my phone. My hands glide over a device and as I go to check the time I realize it's not mine. I open Elijah's phone and see it's a bit past noon. A notification shows up on his screen saying 6 missed calls.
I look over at a sleeping Elijah, he looks so peaceful and happy. His features are relaxed and a small smile is worn on his face. The calls are from a couple of hours ago so letting him sleep a bit more wouldn't hurt.
I smile as I lift myself off the bed and adjust my clothes. Putting on my shoes, I slowly open the door as to not make any noise and make my way downstairs. The tv is on and I hear some chatter.
"Hey sleepy lady, how you feeling?" says Grant eating a bowl of cereal. Bella is sitting next to him eating some toast.
"I feel fine, I definitely need some coffee though. How long have you guys been up?"
"Like an hour or two I think. Someone forgot to turn off their alarm and we just couldn't fall back asleep after." Bella said, sending Grant a look.
"So you two slept in the same room I see," I say turning on the coffee machine. I turn to face them and wiggle my eyebrows.
"Shut up." Bella retorted, "Looks like you and Elijah did too."
"Not the first time either," commented Grant, "you care to comment on that anytime soon by the way?"
"All we did was sleep, mind your business."
Bella and Grant exchanged a look, "And in the little room yesterday, all you did was sleep there too?"
"Yea, spill the beans." Bella said.
"Okay well maybe then it wasn't sleeping." Bella raises her eyebrows in excitement, "No, no, it's not what you think. We didn't have sex. Now that's all I care to say."
"Ugh, how boring." She says back.
I roll my eyes at her and pour some milk to heat up.
Footsteps are heard coming down the stairs as we see Vinnie pop in around the corner, "Goodmorning."
"It's the middle of the afternoon," Bella says chuckling.
"Good afternoon then," Vinnie says back, "anyone else have a severe headache?"
"You and Abby drank a whole lot more than the rest of us, I think she's just glad to have found someone who can keep up," I say. I make another cup of coffee for Vinnie as I take the milk off the stove and pour it into my cup.
"She refuses to get out of bed, I tried to wake her but she does not seem to like the idea. I told her I'd bring her breakfast if she got up."
Bella gets up out of her seat and heads to the toaster, "Hungover Abby loves her toast in the morning, I'll make you some."
"Thank you," says Vinnie laying his head down on the table.
"You take your coffee black right? Here you go." I say handing him the mug, "You definitely need it."
"Where's Elijah?" Asks Grant.
"He's still upstairs sleeping, I'll wake him in a bit. I wanted to let him rest."
Vinnie takes a sip of his coffee, "Trust me and let him sleep, he gets cranky and it's not cute." He smiles at himself as he grabs the plate of toast for Abby. "I'm gonna go bring this up to her and hope she wakes up."
"Tell her we're opening gifts in a bit. That'll get her up, she loves presents. Even if they're not hers." I say.
"Got ya." He salutes us then head back upstairs.
