Chapter 24 | I Miss You
"Alora, could you be a dear and close the window for me. The winter air is really coming in early this year." Mr.Ballader says while buttoning up his cardigan.
I make my way over to the window, passing by the empty set of chairs that would usually be occupied by Elijah and Vinnie. It's been a couple of weeks now and no one has heard from the boys since they left. Abby has received a text here and there but no word from them since. Everyone at school has already come up with crazy rumors as to why they've gone missing out of the blue but none have guessed it yet.
I sit back down in my seat and tune my hearing back over to the teacher's voice.
"Today I'm partnering everyone up to complete this project by the end of next week. Work on the presentation and research together but I want each report typed up individually."
I hate group projects.
Don't get me wrong, I work well with others and I have no problem socializing but I rather do work on my own. I just work better that way.
Even after closing the window the classroom is still unusually cold. I grab my hoodie out of my backback and put it on.
As I open my eyes I see Mr.Ballader standing right in front of me. "Alora, originally your partner was to be Mr.Peral but seeing as neither he nor Mr.Coluna are here, you'll be working with Lily. The boys will just have to make up the work on their own time."
Lily smiles at me and waves a little, I smile back at her then look back at Mr.Ballader. "Great, now you guys get to choose what topic you want to do and whatever you don't pick I shall assign to the boy."
"Thanks, Mr.Ballader."
He nods his head then makes his way back over to the front of the class to explain the details of the project we're about to work on.
"So, do you want to work on chapter 13 or 15. I'm leaning towards 13 but it's up to you." Lily says, taking a seat next to me.
I nod, "Chapter 13 sounds good to me. We can plan everything at the end of class."
"Alright, perfect!" She reverts her attention back to the front of the classroom to listen to the instructions."

Lunch time finally rolls around and it couldn't have come any sooner, I was starving. My parents made their all famous Pasta Carbonara and they packed me some leftovers for today's lunch. My mom had made some garlic bread as well so eating will definitely be the highlight of my day.
I sit at our lunch table with Bella and as I'm about to take a bite of that delicious garlic bread I hear a tray slam on the table.
"So, I was in the girl's bathroom earlier and you know that group of sophomores that are just in love with every single Senior ever? Well, I overheard them saying that one of them spotted Elijah's car parked in their neighborhood a couple of days ago."
"Do you think that they're back?" Bella questioned.
"I mean there has to be more than one person with the same car as him don't you think?" I say.
Abby slouches a bit in her seat, "Yeah I guess, but they could be back."
"Have you heard from Vinnie lately?"
Abby shakes her head, "Not since the week they left when I asked him if they were alright. Has Elijah texted you at all?"
I swallow the garlic bread in my mouth and shake my head, "I haven't heard from him at all since he's left. I haven't even seen him online."
