Before the chapter starts: what do you think it is? A boy or a girl?

I was sick of having appointments with random doctors in random cities. I wante to be back at home, with our midwife and with our daughter. I was fifteen weeks and already sick of being poked and prodded every time I had to go and see another doctor. I had called Jane back home, and she said she was excited to help us with my second baby- Faria was excited to meet her midwife, I always told her about the day she was born and she wanted to be just like Jane.

"I don't want to go." I pouted while Faria ran her brush through my hair. "Seriously, Jim, I don't want to go."

"It's hard to take you seriously when your daughter is brushing your hair with a Princess Leia brush." Jim chuckled, then he kissed my cheek. "We might get to find out what it is today. That makes it worth it, doesn't it?" He asked and I shook my head, pouting like Faria did whenever she didn't get her way.

"I don't want them looking at our baby anymore. I feel like it's some kind of zoo animal now, especially because there are always so many doctors in the room- like, remember that group of medical students?!" I sighed and he hummed, squeezing my hand in reply. "I just want this to be over... I want to go home and have the baby, then just never come back here. There are too many people touching me and looking at me, I'm just sick of it." I was feeling very overwhelmed, but I couldn't just go home and leave the band hanging like that. "We have a concert in Buenos Aires on the due date..." I looked up at him, my entire body already feeling like it was in pain.

"And you can't cancel?" He asked and I shook my head. "Well, you'll just have to be careful, okay? I don't want my babe falling out in front of millions of people." He chuckled, softly, while he gently rubbed my stomach. "And I'm sure you can cancel the one show if the baby decides to make an appearance that morning." He hummed and I nodded with a small sigh. "Come on now, time to go and look at the wee one."

I didn't know why Jim was so excited to see a doctor... I mean, he was probably excited to actually see his baby and find out if we needed a pink nursery or a blue one, but it was the same every single time- our baby kind of just looked like a blob. Faria was excited, too, so I got myself out of bed and I started getting ready so she could go and see her little sibling.

"What do you think my baby will look like this time, baba?" Faria asked while we got into the car. "Last time he looked sorta like a bean." She giggled, kicking her feet excitedly while Jim did her seat belt up.

"I think it'll look more like a baby this time, love. It got a little bigger since last time you saw, it has hands and feet and everything." I smiled back at her, then Jim got in and he held my hand while he drove us towards the clinic- I was thankful for rental vehicles because we didn't have to sit in the backs of cabs all the time. "And now we'll get to see if it's going to be a boy or a girl." I told her and she squealed, making Jim and I laugh.

"Are you going to tell the others when we find out?" Jim asked and I shrugged.

I honestly felt like I was drifting away from everyone since Brian and I ended things. I mean, Roger and I went to the bar sometimes when Faria was a baby, and John brought the kids around from time to time, but it just didn't feel the same. Maybe it was just because we were getting older and most of us had families of our own. Something about the band lifestyle just didn't feel the same.

"So, fifteen weeks today, huh?" The ultrasound technician smiled and I nodded at him, keeping my eyes on the screen to avoid any unnecessary conversation. "Are you guys wanting to find out what it is?" He chuckled when Faria pulled her stool closer to the screen, so she could see her baby. "Is that your baby sibling?" He asked and she nodded with a wide smile, making me laugh.
