For as long as the Earth has been spinning, a little phoenix spirit coexisted along with it. Floating aimlessly around Earth unnoticed by the changing life and landscape. Casting a soft warmth throughout the land while it waited and watched the simple asteroid slowly become a planet that could sustain life. It watched creatures of various forms and sizes soon come to life; soon setting boundaries and claiming parts of the land as their own. While life around the phoenix continued to grow and prosper, the phoenix remained the same and soon it craved to manifest itself. To be able to feel the land and wind blowing through its feathers. Seeing it’s opportunity when a tiny t-rex emerged from its egg, greeted happily by its mother with a gentle headbutt and screech. Without hesitation the phoenix latched itself onto the t-rex’s heart and waited for the dinosaur to mature, excited to finally have a body to call its own, but unfortunately the t-rex never made it to adulthood. A harsh thunderstorm lead the dinosaur to its quick demise after a mudslide swept through the land. Frustrated the phoenix tried again with a rather clumsy and stupid bird known as the dodo. It was the brightest of creatures as it often mistook rocks for foods and fallen from heights that should have killed the creature, but nonetheless it survived into adulthood. Eighteen long years the phoenix awaited for its powers to awaken only to have them stripped away when the dodo didn’t survive past being burned alive. Once again the phoenix set out to find a new host only to have that one fail as well. Failure after failure, host after host, new batch of creatures after batch. After a few hundred years of trying the phoenix began to give up hope that it’ll ever gain a body and will forever be stuck floating around the Earth. That is until a new batch of creatures arrived and these ones were far more different than the ones it was used to roaming about. They seemed similar to apes and other primates, but with less hair. The batch of creatures looked fragile and were easily killed when larger animals took a swipe at them, but they seemed determined to fight to the top of the food chain. Though curious if any of these creatures could be a new host, the phoenix decided to sit by and watch these new creatures grow. Waiting for the right day to strike. Over the course of the next few hundred years, the phoenix watched the creatures advance rapidly. The once furry naked creatures that sat in a musky cave with only a stick to fend off the wild animals were now building villages, creating culture and languages, building weapons to advance up the food chain, and overall progressing more than the others around them. The humans lost their furry appearance and began to wear clothing to protect themselves from the elements. Despite how impressed the phoenix was while watching, it decided it couldn’t wait any longer. Setting its gaze upon a couple of humans walking down the beach, the cold ocean waves gently lapping at their bare feet. The young couple shared the same hair and skin color; bronze skin with creamy blonde hair, but their eyes and gender were different. The female leaned heavily into the male while he wrapped one arm around her shoulders and his rested his other hand upon her swollen belly, his golden eyes filled with worry. Seeing an opportunity the phoenix launched itself down towards the couple.
“Kala, please slow down…” The male begged in a worried tone. The female let out a soft chuckle and opened her mouth to speak, but quickly shut it when she felt pain tear through her body. Gritting her teeth she placed a hand firmly upon her stomach, letting out a sharp exhale of breath from the pain.
“Kala, Kala what’s wrong? Are you okay?”
“Mata darling...I’m fine, I’m fine. Just feeling a little bit of pain.” The woman, known as Kala, gave Mata a faint smile. Her voice gentle when she spoke.
“Is ...Is the baby coming? Do I need to get someone? What do I need to do?” Mata began to ramble and grip Kala’s shoulder tightly. He was not prepared for his son to come into this world and felt an arrange of emotion from the very thought of being a father. Mainly fear and excitement. Kala let out another soft chuckle and gingerly placed her hand upon Mata’s cheek, rubbing her thumb against his stubbly chin to stop his rambling. Her ice blue eyes looking at him lovingly.
