It had been nearly a month since I had sent Hastur and Ligur down the garbage disposal, and so far, everyone had left us alone. I had been staying with Crowley at his flat, but it was time for him to be accepted into my clan if he and I wanted a future together.
"Do we have to go to the mountains?" The Serpent of Eden grumbled as he stood in the doorway of the bathroom. I had been changing into the buckskin dress he had seen me in the night of the elder's funeral. It hugged my curves, showing off the tattoos covering my body. I loved this dress, even though it did make me look wild.
"Yes." I replied simply, "All you have to do is miracle us to the base and I can bypass the wards to get us there." Crowley nodded, watching me. As soon as I was done, he snapped his fingers, miricaling us into the steep foothills of the mountain my clan inhabited.
I took a deep breath, flexing my wings as the crisp mountain air filled my lungs.
"Móðir, ég kem heim til þín." I sighed contentedly, drawing a rune in the dirt. It glowed like the embers of a dying fire before vanishing. Crowley raised an eyebrow, but followed me up the steep footpath into the trees.
I drew several more runes in the dirt, nullifying the wards so my mate could pass them. It took us a good hour to get past all of them, but by the time the sun was beginning to set, the small clan village could be seen.
Nephilim stopped to watch us, eyes wide at the sight of the demon walking beside me. My plan was to go to the main lodge, were the council of elders sat, but two burly warriors stepped into our path.
"(Y/N)," One said, crossing his tatted arms across his broad chest, "We thought you were dead."
"But you come back here with...this." The other finished, looking pointedly at Crowley.
"This," I said in a clipped tone, "Is my mate, Crowley. I bring him to the elders to be admitted to the clan."
"One big bloody happy family," Crowley muttered darkly. I shot him a warning glance before turning back to the two warriors.
"I have already claimed him as clan," I stated, winding my fingers through Crowley's. He squeezed them reassuringly, "I bring him to the elders for his trial." The two warrior's nodded, stepped aside, and fell into rank beside us.
The inside of the lodge was thick was sage scented smoke. Ten elders sat in a semi circle around a great fire burning in the center of the lodge. I bowed low to them, Crowley mirroring my actions.
"Honored ancients," I said respectfully, "I bring to you my mate, the demon Crowley, Serpent of Eden."
Translation
