I woke up with a start, a sharp pain shooting through me. It was dark in the small cabin, without even a moon to filter some light through the open window. Gasping for breath, I shook Crowley's shoulder. The Serpent grumbled a bit, still mostly asleep.
"Crowley, you fucking idiot, wake up." I hissed, the pain slowly subsiding. Crowley stirred, one yellow eye opening to glare at me.
"I'm not going to town to get you ice cream again." He growled, trying to roll over and go back to sleep.
"No, you stupid noodle," I said, shoving my messy hair out of my face, "I'm going into labor." Crowley sat bolt upright in bed, wide awake now.
"Are you sure?" He asked, getting out of bed and throwing his pants on. In the dark, I could hear him stumbling around.
"No," I sighed, lighting a candle on the nightstand, "I always have gut wrenching pains in the middle of the night." Crowley paused, giving me a dirty look, before putting on his shoes.
"Go to the cabin at the far end of the village," I told him, "Yara is the midwife that lives there." Crowley nodded, moving quickly towards the door. In his haste, he missed the doorway, smacking nose first into the doorframe. Swearing fantastically, he stumbled back.
"Are you okay?" I asked, starting to get out of bed. Crowley waved a hand at me, hurrying from the room. I slumped back against the pillows, listening to him go.
"That's the father of my child," I mused, rubbing my temples, "Lord help me get through this labor."
