The full moon came sooner than I hoped it would. Crowley and I made the trek up the mountain again. He was unusually quiet, focused on the fight ahead of him. His silence made me nervous.
The entire pack had turned out to watch the trial. As Crowley and I walked towards the crowd circled around a massive bonfire. The elders were seated in the center, and standing next to him was a massive warrior with sweeping black wings criss crossed with various scars.
"Fuck," I swore under my breath.
"What?" Crowley said, peering at the warrior, "He doesn't look that tough."
"That's Pavara." I said quietly, "I've seen him rip a man in half with his bare hands." Crowley gave me a disturbed look, as if he didn't believe me.
"Bloody hell." He swore.
"Demon Crowley." The silver haired elder called out, the bonfire casting shadows over her ancient face, "Are you ready to face trial to become one of our clan?"
"Do your worst." Crowley smirked at Pavara. I stepped to the side, watching the giant warrior heft a giant battle axe, growling. My heart leapt into my throat, terrified. This was going to be a very long night.
