"oh god, oh god, i think i'm gonna be sick," jongdae said as he got ready for the christmas party. it was finally christmas eve, and while jongdae wasn't much of a religious person, he was currently praying like hell that everything would be okay.

"deep breaths, dae," baekhyun told his cousin, doing his best to calm him down, "everything is gonna be alright."

"i think i'm actually going to fall into cardiac arrest," jongdae said. the rest of his friends were gone, they left so they could get ready for the party at home.

"hey, hey now," baekhyun told him, "let's not freak out. it's just one night."

"yeah, and tomorrow, too," jongdae said, trying to steady his breathing as he sat down on his bed, "dear god i have to spend christmas eve and christmas with a total stranger that happens to be my parent. what do i even call him? dad? father? mr. actor kim woobin sir?"

"uh... lets just try and avoid all of those," baekhyun said, "come on now, we have to get you dressed."

jongdae nodded, getting off of his bed slowly. he shook his head. it was too much to handle.

he hardly made it to the toilet in time to throw up, baekhyun besides him in an instant, rubbing his back. jongdae coughed almost violently, a taste of sick in his mouth. he spat out whatever vomit saliva he had, a shaky hand slowly flushing the toilet. he took a deep breath, baekhyun helping him off of the floor.

jongdae brushed his teeth in silence, baekhyun not daring to say a word. baekhyun wasn't great at handling these type of situations, but he at least tried his best.

"let's... let's get you changed, yeah?" baekhyun asked as jongdae got rid of the foul taste in his mouth.

"yea- yeah," jongdae whispered as he nodded, swallowing the lump in his throat and following baekhyun out of his bathroom. the mere thought of seeing his father made him nauseous, so he wasn't sure how he'd handle it when he actually did have to face the reality of it.

"shirt," baekhyun said softly. jongdae slowly took his off, the hickeys that minseok left him from the other day slightly faded now.

"nice," baekhyun told jongdae, who simply nodded in return. they were.

baekhyun helped jongdae change, making sure he was absolutely perfect. when he gave jongdae a nod of approval, jongdae walked over to his vanity, sitting down in his chair. he began on his makeup, being far more thorough than normal. he wanted a more adult look. his father missed out on his childhood, and the end of the day, he deserved to know it. what better way that jongdae looking like an adult?

"you look nice, dae," baekhyun told jongdae as he himself did his eyeliner. jongdae took a deep breath.

"thanks, baekkie," jongdae said. he practiced his smile a couple of times, making sure that it was perfect.

"we got this, yeah?" baekhyun told jongdae, hands settling on the younger's shoulders as he he smiled at his best friend in the mirror. jongdae gave him a little smile.

"yeah- yeah we do, let's smoke this bitch," jongdae said, staring at baekhyun. baekhyun looked more than nice.

"that'll be easy. we look hot as hell," baekhyun joked. jongdae let out a laugh, unable to help himself.

"does my eyeliner look alright?" jongdae asked baekhyun. baekhyun nodded.

"makeup artist kim jongdae," baekhyun smiled proudly, "come on, jongdae, everyone will start getting here soon."

jongdae stood up from his chair, squaring his shoulders a little bit. he could do this. deep breaths. small steps. one second at a time.

"wow... you both look beautiful," boyoung told them. they gave a smile. they looked like brothers, twins.

"thanks, mum. place looks great," jongdae replied, looking around his house. they really highlighted how big it was, christmas decorations giving it an extravagant yet homey feel. in the center of the living room, there was a huge christmas tree, donned with beautiful ornaments and christmas lights.

"it really does, auntie bo," baekhyun nodded, agreeing.

"ah, thanks. everything's set up- the ham is finishing up in the oven, everything else is absolutely ready," boyoung said, "feel free to hit the champagne table, boys, it's a party after all."

"great- oh, that must be the boys," baekhyun started, interrupted in the middle of his sentence by the doorbell ringing.

"i'll get it," jongdae said, needing something to distract himself from his budding nerves. he went to the front door, opening it to see all of his friends.

"hey guys-"

"you look great," junmyeon cut him off, already stepping into the mansion, "wow, it's so pretty."

"hey, dae," yixing chuckled, hugging jongdae, "sorry about him, he's been hyped up for this all day."

"me too," jongdae laughed, hugging the rest of his friends.

"we come bearing gifts," jongin smiled at jongdae, holding a couple of presents in his hands.

"merry christmas eve, dae," chanyeol told him.

"oh, thanks guys. i'll give you yours tomorrow. you'll come later in the day, right?"

"definitely," junmyeon nodded, "just gotta get the family stuff out of the way and then we can skedaddle over here."

"where can i set these down?" jongin asked jongdae, "oh, and you look freaking awesome, by the way."

"thank you," jongdae laughed, pointing to the tree, "underneath there. you guys look great, by the way. love the way your ring looks with that bracelet, junmyeon."

"i told you the bracelet was a good idea," yixing told junmyeon in an 'i told you so' voice. junmyeon lightly rolled his eyes but still smiled.

"thanks, dae," junmyeon said, looking around, "wow, you even decorated the backyard."

"yep. i doubt anyone will go there, since it's so cold," boyoung nodded, "but it's so pretty, isn't it?"

"really is," yixing nodded, arm wrapping around junmyeon's waist comfortably, "so, how many people are coming?"

"only close friends," boyoung replied, fixing her dress, "do i look alright?"

"ethereal, mum," jongdae said, then looking to yixing, "and by only close friends, she means 300 people."

"wow... that's a lot," chanyeol said, pecking baekhyun's lips in greeting.

"yeah, well, we got the living room upstairs so space won't be an issue," jongdae shrugged, "so, you're gonna meet my uncle today."

"oh yeah. you excited to meet my father and siblings?" baekhyun asked chanyeol happily. chanyeol laughed nervously, nodding.

"yep, totally, completely," chanyeol said, though he sounded like he was trying to convince himself more than anyone. jongin scoffed.

"he was memorizing lines the entire way here," jongin exposed him, "he even made yixing have a pretend conversation with him."

"i came here to have a good time and honestly i'm feeling so attacked right now," chanyeol glared at jongin, then looking to jongdae, "you look nervous, dae. you good?"

"hmm? oh, yeah, i'm fine, totally not having a panic attack right now or anything," jongdae nodded, "is it too early to start drinking, mum?"

"let's hold off until we have a good amount of people here," boyoung laughed, looking to the staff in the kitchen, "how's everything going?"

while boyoung distracted herself in the kitchen, jongdae and his friends made small talk amongst themselves, talking about christmas plans and whatnot. jongdae watched as his friends spoke about their families and weird uncles that probably shouldn't be allowed near the kids and yet for some reason still are. jongdae took a deep breath.

i've got this. i can do this.
