It's been a week since the incident in the detention room with Thompson and I've been ignoring dad. Every time he enters a room I'll look the other way or leave and go back to my room.
He tried talking to me multiple times the following day but I wouldn't talk. In the end he have up knowing he wasnt going to get anywhere.
"Brook can I come in?" I hear Steve ask after knocking on my door. Debating it in my head I sigh and let him in.
"Yeah." I don't want to talk to him but he sure as hell wasn't going to leave. Opening the door the super soldier walks in before closing the door and sitting beside me on my bed.
"What do you want Steve?" I bitterly ask. He sighs and turns to me.
"You need to talk to Tony. I'm not asking you to forgive him because God knows that man has done worse but I can't stand seeing my best friend moping around the lab not caring about anything. And the same goes for you Brook, you're doing just the same." Steve explained raising his eyebrow while staring at me.
Standing up from my bed I pace in front of him slightly annoyed yet filled with regret. "Well dad should of thought about that before he said what he did last week." I huffed still not overly keen on the idea of apologising to dad which Steve saw.
"Just like Tony." He sighed seeing this isn't going anywhere.
"What?" I asked confused. I have literally no idea what he's going on about.
"You're stubborn just like Tony." He clarifies with a small smirk.
"I am not! I'm nothing like my dad!" I deny to which Steve stands up. I'm not sure why I said that because I knew what Steve meant in fact I can see the resemblance between us but I guess I just don't want to admit it.
"Yes you are!" He retorts trying not to laugh. "You have a liking for machinery, 80s rock bands, a similar fashion sense and not to mention you both have an obsession with coffee and hate being told what to do." He points out making me sigh in defeat.
"Look just go and apologise before either of you do something you'll regret or do I have to get Loki to come talk to you?" Steve offers crossing his arms over his chest. It's become a known fact that me and Loki have this connection as I'm the only person in the compound he fully trusts and he's the only person who can talk me out of things or decide what I should do.
Rolling my eyes I groan in defeat. "Fine I'll go apologise. You win this round Capsicle." I groan walking off out my room. I'm fairly certain I heard him laugh once I left.
"F.R.I.D.A.Y. where's dad?" I ask aloud walking down the corridor.
"He's currently in the lab fixing one of his suits." The AI announced to which I thanked.
Walking through the various hallways I finally reached the lab. Looking through the windows I spot dad tinkering away on one of his Iron Man suits. He had his back to me so he didn't see me walk up to the door. Bruce was in there however was working on something else. The door slid open as I walked through and closed behind me. Dad still hadn't turned around but Bruce did and gave me a small smile.
"Tony?" Bruce asked tapping his shoulder.
"Huh?" He muttered not tearing his gaze from his suit. Tapping his should again dad finally turned his attention to his friend who simply pointed to the door where I was standing.
Standing up, Tony stretched his arms and clicked his back before properly turning around to see me. He looked shocked at first but then turned sad looking away from me. Getting the hint to why I came down here Bruce glanced at the pair of us before putting what ever he was working on down and leaving.
"He'll forgive you don't worry." The scientist muttered as he walked past me. Once Bruce left and the door closed I took a deep breath and strolled over to where dad was working.
"Hey dad." I started unsure he'd actually reply which I totally understand if he doesn't and just wants me to leave. He stared at me for a moment then spoke.
"Hey kid." He replies in the same tone. Turning back around he continues upgrading the suit. I don't know what to say but I'm too stubborn to leave. Damn I hate it when Steve is right! Grabbing one of his office chairs I pull it up to where dad is working and sit beside him. He stopped for a second giving me a sideways glance but then went back to work.
I didn't say anything to him and he didn't say anything to me. We went on like this for a while simply because none of us knew what to say. Carefully watching what he's doing I think of something to say. "You know if you higher the energy input your suit could take more damage?" I point out.
Dad stops working and turns to me. At first I thought he was pissed but that clearly wasn't the case. "Oh really?" He smirks.
"Yes really, I'll show you." I shoot back with a small smile. Jumping off the chair I take the tools out of dad's hands and take over from what he was doing. 10 minutes later I stood back to show him.
Checking it out he turns to me impressed. "I guess you are right." He comments looking at his suit. Even though I haven't been here for long I can tell that was dad's way of saying thank you.
Now time for what I actually came here for. "Dad, I'm sorry for how I acted. I was being stupid." I apologise.
He didn't say anything but hugged me. "Me too. It wasn't your fault, it's just I couldn't bare the thought of losing you again." He apologises quietly.
