I'm tired and all I want is my bed. I get there and you're telling me i had Absolute Vodka in my trunk? How could I bring booze to school? Like I'd never done it before, so where from the bottle? 🤦🏽‍♂️
It was either the Snr house master was messing with me or one of the boys in the dorm had fucked up big time🤷🏽‍♂️. I tried explaining everything to the guy. I told him I didn't know anything about the alcohol😭. He told me I'd be called to face the disciplinary committee 💔.
That night I couldn't sleep, I tried but I couldn't, the sleep was not coming 😭. I Problems everywhere, it was like i was hexed 💔. I called Genevieve, she was asleep so i sent a message.
A week passed a nothing happened. It was Ash Wednesday, some of the boys decided to skip the mass so they went to the beach 🏝. I don't know what happened but it seems the teachers got a hint. They managed to get some of them who snitched the rest. In a matter of days the disciplinary committee was opened 💔. I was in class when I was called. They had not forgotten the Vodka incident. I faced the committee, every thing i said fell on deaf ears. I knew I was going to be suspended, nobody needed to tell me😞. How was I going to explain this to my dad? Especially when i was soo close to my final examination 💔.
When I got to the dorm I told my friends what had happened, some sympathized with me whilst others were dead angry. We all suspected one guy in the dorm, he's the only one who is known for drinking like that. He's called Sheriff. Like the guy can finish a gallon of any kind of booze. And the surprising thing is that he's muslim 💔.
I packed my things things cause I knew I was going home. Gene finally replied my text, and i was glad to hear from her.
The one thing I was worried about was how my dad would react, he had already warned me about alcohol. He was expecting me to take studies serious, so how was he going to take this? Especially when it was so close to my final examination.
The suspension letters were always shared during assembly💔. Your crime would be mentioned and your letter would be handed to you. It was almost always done by the headmaster. When we saw the headmaster with the letters we knew our time was up💔. Then he started " Good morning school....... Some students are tarnishing the image of our great institution....." . When my name was mentioned I didn't feel anything, I wasn't guilty so why all the crucifixion? I went to take my letter. We were expected to leave immediately after assembly 😑. I called my dad and told him i was coming, I didn't want it to take him of guard.
I said a few goodbyes and got my things cause i had already packed, then i left for Tema. I had my keys so i got into my house with ease, i just put my bags down, got a coke from the fridge and went to sleep 😴. I could not hide the tears, i cried myself to sleep.
A knock on my door woke me up. It was my dad, I hadn't realized I was still crying but the whole thing shocked my dad. He made me follow him to his study room so we could talk. I told him everything that had happened, then i handed him the letter. He asked me whether I was saying the truth, and i told him i was.
He told me about how alcohol abuse can cause the end of a man, told me about his days at school and people who got drunk all the time and where they are in life.
He told me he'd get private teachers for me. He also said he'd spare my mother the bad news. He took this better than I'd expected 🤭.
True to his word, he didn't tell my mom. She would have been so worried. He got the teachers and teaching started the next day. I had told Gene i was home, she was around herself but i could not see her.
I was always occupied with one teacher or the other🤷🏽‍♂️.
Then Gene told me she'd meet me at my church and that i should send her my church's location and she'd be there on Sunday😊. She really tried oh.
That was the only time i was so excited to go to church 😂. True to her word, she was there. I was so happy to see her. She wore a white straight dress that was sleeveless with black heels. Her jewelry sparked like it had been freshly polished ❤️. We sat under one of the churches summer huts and talked. There was so much to talk about, and in no time mass ended. I even forgot my dad might be looking for me, i stayed and just kept talking with her.
The I saw my dad approaching us, then it hit me. It had been an hour since mass ended 🤦🏽‍♂️.
He looked at the two of us, then asked " Is that the new girl?"
Okay so I didn't know how to answer this, even though my dad was really supportive of my relationships and all, I found it weird telling him stuff like this🤦🏽‍♂️.
Gene saw I was sweating, so she told my dad she was just a friend🤷🏽‍♂️.
My dad just laughed and said " small boys are young".
He gave me money to take a car home but told me not to stay too long cause I'd have class the next day.
Before he left he looked at Gene and said " Can you handle him? He's a stubborn one oh😂".
Some people will say all those years abroad changed my parents and that they were not behaving African. But truth is that they just understood me.
The suspension was over and I got back to school. My final exam came faster than I expected. I was finally done with school, then the bug question hit me.
