You barely slept because of the freak out you had last night with the creeper in your window, You couldn’t even sleep in your room because you were so scared so you moved out to the living room in the middle of the night which didn’t even help you. You sat at the table with your parents in the small diner you guys picked to have your birthday breakfast at.
You sat there looking out the window as you all waited for your food and you sister blabs on and on about her date she had with her boyfriend last night, Of course dad didn’t want to hear anything about it but your mom was all ears, she loved your sisters boyfriend who was a straight A student with a soccer scholarship to a fancy school, And even though your mom would tell you she liked Luke just as much as your sisters boyfriend but you knew she liked your sister’s boyfriend a lot more. You weren’t in the talking mood and every time someone asked you a question you just answered with a ‘yeah or ‘nope’ which your father didn’t like very much, they knew all the stuff that was happening with Luke was stressing you out but like all fathers do yours tells you to get over it because it isn’t any of your business and it’s not your problem to deal with and you can’t help but laugh and roll your eyes, if only he knew all the things you’ve dealt with in the past couple of weeks, He would lock you up and think luke was a saint. Your phone began to vibrate and your mother let out a sigh when you opened the message you just recieved from Ashton.

"Can i go to the library? for a bit while you guys finish up?" You ask.
"For?" Your dad asks as he stuffs his mouth full of food.
"Books. Obviously what else would you go to a library for?" You ask and you cocks his head and raises his eyebrow, Your sister lets out a giggle and quickly tries to cover it up.
"30 minutes and then meet us back here." Your mom says and you thank her as you get up from the table head over to the store as you text Ashton and tell him to meet you there.
You sat in the back of the library in the fiction section and scanned some books, You loved reading but you can’t even remember the last time you finished a book. You grabbed a book and smiled as you read the title: “Go Down Together.” A book on Bonnie and Clyde, You remember when you had to read it for extra credit over the summer once and Luke found it on your dresser, He began reading it one day when you guys were spending the day together and he ended up finishing it with in two days, he told you how interesting it was and how it made the list of his favorite books which was weird because you didn’t even know Luke liked books, You thought about how much he would like a copy of his own but unfortunately you were broke and head no money to purchase it, You looked around and kept watch as you began pealing the security sticker off of it and stuck the book in your purse, You jumped when you felt someones hand on your arm thinking you got caught stealing.
"Stealing is a crime and i’m going to have to arrest you." Luke says with a smile, Your heart began beating fast and it felt like he took your breath from you, You wrapped your arms around him and kissed him hard, You pulled away and looked at him he was dressed in a hoodie and had sunglasses on, His hair was laying flat and his lip ring was out, he was trying his best to stay hidden.
"What are you doing here? You could get caught i thought i was meeting Ashton here." You say
"No, Just me, I wanted to surprise you." He says with a smirk and then a kiss on your lips.
"I’ll be fine, I’ve been walking around all morning like this and no one has said anything." He says trying his best to reassure you.
"Besides….. I couldn’t not see you on this very special day." He says as he hands you a small wrapped box, You smiled and rolled your eyes, You hated gifts and you hated surprises but you had to admit it did make you feel a bit better, You unwrapped the box and opened it and gasped when you saw a silver necklace locket with a ruby right in the middle, You opened it and there was a picture of you and Luke.
"It’s beautiful babe. Where did you get it from this must have cost a fortune" You say.
"I’m glad you like it." He says with a smirk
"Luke you didn’t steal this did you?" You ask and his smirk fades.
"NO. Vanna gave it to me to give to you, She bought for her sixteenth birthday and she’s never wore it so she said i could give it to you. So no it’s not stolen." He says
"I really wish people would stop assuming i’m a monster or some shit." He mumbles as he looks down at his feet.
"I’m sorry babe i didn’t mean to upset you." You say.
"It’s fine. Anyway i should go, I just wanted to see you today and wish you a happy birthday." he says.
"Can i come with you?" You ask and he looks at you with a guilty face
"Please?" You ask.
"Babe it’s not safe and Vanna already told you-" He begins.
"I don’t care what she said i want to help. I want to be with you Luke." ou say
"I’m scared. Someone was watching me lastnight through my window." You add.
"What?" He says with worry in his eyes.
"I was skyping Calum and -" You begin
"Why were you skyping Cal?" He asks.
"Because the girl he’s seeing might be connected with Roman and vanna’s dad." You explain.
"Wait what? What girl?" He asks.
"[y/n]!]" Your sister says as you hear her voice getting closer. You step out of the book isle and smiled as she jumped at your sudden appearance.
"We’re leaving." She says and you nod your head, she gives you a weird look and turns away and walks off with a shake of her head, You turn back to say goodbye to Luke but he was already gone and your sadness was back.
You met your parents in the parking lot and when you got into the car you looked out the window and saw Luke in Ashton’s car with Calum and Michael, What were they doing with Luke, They wouldn’t be near him, They knew if they got caught there would be hell to pay.
You grabbed your phone and quickly dialed Michael and you watched him as he took his phone out of his pocket and showed Luke the phone and then hung it up. Why were they ignoring you?
"[y/n]?" Your Dad says trying to get your attention.
"Yeah?" You ask as you turn to face him.
"Seat belt." he says and you just roll your eyes as you buckle up.
