DREW

“Drew, I heard some dude is hosting a party by the end of the month” Jace announced coming out from nowhere.

“Must you really shout like I’m miles away from you and what did I tell you about coming in here?” I reprimanded “and don’t you know how to knock, do you find the act of knocking challenging?”

“Oh for crying out loud, must you bitch about every little thing?” he groused back

“That is not little!”

“Yeah, yeah, whatever, as what I’ve said, there’s this party-“

“And?” I cut him off with a bored tone

“Can we go?” he looked like a dog begging for a treat, I bet if he was, his tail would be wagging by now

“No, you know that Friday’s a busy day for me”

“C’mon, it’ll be our first party in Cali” he said pouting.

“Never show that face to me, it’s disgusting!” I shouted, he glared at me then he suddenly smiled. Nothing good ever came from that smile.

“Can I ask Aubrey to be my date then?” He asked, I froze.

“She’s going?”

“Of course, most of the students from school will” he said in a matter of fact tone.

“But then again someone might’ve asked Aubrey already, after all, she’s got the title of the hottest chick in school” he said making emphasis on his last words

“Hmmm, perhaps I can work on my schedule and get Friday free. The hottest girl deserves only the best” I winked at him

“And what makes you think she’d agree to be your date?” Jace questioned me.

“I could always threaten her” I added with a smirk drawing a laugh from him

“Then ask her today before someone does” I cocked an eyebrow.

“I thought you said someone asked her already?” he smiled sheepishly, I can’t believe I fell for that. Not like I would’ve denied anything if he said the truth, I rolled my eyes and went back to reading the paper I was currently holding, "you’ve been different ever since you met Aubrey” he might've murmured but I still heard him

“What makes you say that?” I raised a questioning eyebrow

“I dunno’, you just seem different” he answered shrugging, I nodded, I do feel different, and I do believe it’s a good different.

“Can you believe she smacked me and does not even feel the slightest fear of what could be the consequence of doing so?” the incredulity in my voice only made him laugh

“She did huh? Finally found someone who ain’t scared of your shit and can’t be intimidated by you” I gave him an amused look

“What makes you think she isn’t?” he only shrugged

“You honestly believe she is?” he countered, I shook my head no.

“I love your honesty” he said nodding with me, I just laughed humorlessly.

“It’s the only positive thing about me, but because of this stupid facade-.. ” I trailed off feeling a growing anger towards myself, I already hate myself and everything that has got to do with my life but I’ve never felt this much self loathing before, it’s because despite my repugnant personality, at least I was honest and real, now not only do I have a horrendous character I am now officially a spurious person.
