Tom Riddle trailed behind Lucille with a dark glare as they slowly walked towards their Defence Against The Dark Arts class. The hallway was empty meaning that they would walk in late. Tom Riddle didn't want any rumours about him and the incorrigible girl. Maybe release the Basilisk again and kill Lux. One, he would arrive before her to class and Two, he could create a Horcrux. It bothered him greatly that his mortality returned, anger churned within him every time he thought about his horcrux being destroyed but he knew that wasn't possible. It wasn't possible.
Her green and black robes flowed effortlessly with no sign of wrinkles in the fabric however, her hair looked like she had just woken up. Feeling his gaze on her Lucille shifted her head before entering the classroom, Tom was hot in her heels.
"Your late, Lux and..." The professor looked flabbergasted at Tom, he didn't expect this behaviour.
Tom watched onwards with a curious glint in his eyes as Lucille stepped forward with a kind smile. He felt the tip of his nose grow warm. He rubbed it with confusion. His usually cold plain face was dusted with a pink blush, you could see it if you peered closely at him. Other than that it was concealed.
"I apologise, Riddle was helping me make my way to class whilst pointing out the other classrooms." The teacher was more than willing to accept her lie.
Tom Riddle gripped the wand in his pocket hexing himself that he didn't think of a lie sooner. Lucille Lux seemed like she was going to be a formidable opponent. This class should prove at least that.
He sauntered off to be with his friends. They waited for him like dogs with tails in between their legs and tongues flopping out of their mouths in happiness; their master has returned. With a dark glare and his followers behind him he watched Lucille stand confidently in the back, she leaned against the wall stretching her limbs. His eyes latched onto a flash of pale skin, her shirt too short. He'll have to talk to her about that, a woman showing off skin scantily. He shuddered at the thought. Tom shook his head in disbelief.
"Partner up please!" The teacher shouted and everyone scrambled to get into a pair.
Tom watched in triumph as Lucille stood in the back with no one. He leaned into Malfoy's ear and whispered, "Partner up with Lux, I want to see what she can do."
Abraxas Malfoy nodded his head arrogantly with expectation that he would win a dual against a feeble female, let alone a new student. He had seen her flipping through Hogwarts a History and numerous spell books, she didn't know as much as him. To be granted, he hasn't told Tom yet but he will. Everything that she does points towards her being a mudblood.
"Everyone done? Good." The professor clapped his hands while smiling and flicked out his wand, He stood on the large table used for dueling. "Now," He turned around dramatically. "I'm Professor Caspian, let's duel."
He went to step off but then swooshed around again, his cape hitting a poor Slytherin in the face.
"Everyone knows the rules?" He called out looking directly at Lucille. Tom smirked again but It faltered when he saw the exact same expression on her face.
"No? Well then, Lux you can demonstrate first." The male teacher raised his eyebrows at her and gestured towards the duel table, he stepped off as Abraxas and Lucille stepped on.
There was a tense silence as they raised their wands and as Tom peered closer to Lux's wand he noticed something. It looked very much like a stick. A wooden stick and not a wand. With narrowed eyes he returned his gaze to the battle.
The two stepped backwards three steps and brought themselves into stance, a wicked grin was plastered on Lucille's face as she took defensive. An arrogant smirk was on Abraxas as he took agressive. Their mouths moved in sync as they counted to three.
Abraxas shot the first spell.
Lucille somehow countered it with Protego, her lips unmoving.
He paused and tilted his head looking at her mouth, grunting she lifted her stick like wand and pointed it straight at him.
"Avis." White birds shot from the tip of her wand and circled around Abraxas, he swatted at them with difficulty. She smiled with her head downcast, her eyes glance upwards as she speaks, "Oppungo." She looked demonic as she casted it.
The birds that began circling Malfoy nosedived and thrashed into him, a deep gasp could be heard as he was thrown backwards. He was obviously winded but that didn't stop Lucille from advancing. She menacingly stalked towards him, her eyes glazed over with anger and amusement.
Abraxas coughed and held up his wand, "Serpensortia."
A black snake adorned in crimson red patterns flew from his wand onto the floor. Tom's back straightened and worriedly looked to the snake, he didn't want it to be hurt. He could already hear its distress.
Lucille made no move to cast another spell but continued forward to meet the snake, it rose from its belly bearing its teeth ready to bite.
"Stop." Lucille hissed underneath her breath, the snake retracted its fangs but didn't lower itself to the ground.
She outstretched her hand and watched as the snake slowly curled around it, moving itself up her arm so it rested around her neck. A chuckle left her mouth as she heard what it whispered in her ear.
Slowly, she shifted her stare into Abraxas.
"What was you thought earlier?" Lucille squatted so she was eye level to Abraxas. His eyes were wide. He dropped his wand out of fear. He could practically feel the darkness ooze out of her fingertips as she grabbed onto his face. She held it to meet her eyes.
Tom's eyes flashed in disappointment as he saw the wand clatter to the floor. He noticed how Abraxas was paralysed underneath the wenches gaze.
"Flipendo." She said, her wand wasn't used but Abraxas still went flying into the wall. He let out a scream of agony as he collided with the cobblestone.
Professor Caspian looked on with sadistic fascination, it was a reason why Tom liked this class so much. He didn't know how a small petite girl could cast powerful magic like that against a man, let alone wandless magic.
Hearing the cries of Abraxas Malfoy, one of the most wealthiest students at Hogwarts he raced over casting Episkey, a small healing spell until he got to the Madam in the hospital wing.
