Bleep! Did I know where to go? I wandered down the hall until I heard voices coming from behind the door next to me. I opened the door to.... another room full of vampires. Woohoo!

"Sorry to interrupt. Is this the Council meeting?" A handful of vampires nodded, one of them was looking at me with an expression of fear. Yup, my mom definitely didn't want me to come. Looking right at her I said casually,

"I didn't know if I was old enough to attend." Her face slowly drained of what little color her already pale face possessed. My father sat next to her talking to someone, paying no attention at all. At that moment three old vampires walked into the room.

"Can everybody sit down. Sit down!" The vampires slowly sat down and assembled into order, "Thank you. Now to start things off can all the new members of this meeting please stand." A few vampires stood up and faced the Council. I stood too, trying to angle my body so my father wouldn't recognize me.

"Please state your name and which part of the Council you're from. Alright you." The old vampire pointed to a young man in front of me.

"Steven Silverspoon, i'm from the British part of the Council." He sat down and the vampire turned to me.

"Elizabeth Mares, i'm from the..." I paused thinking back to what Ben had said. He didn't tell me! I started to sweat and I could feel my face turning red.

"Your from the British part too." Steven said. What? I looked at him, what was he talking about? The old vampire cleared his throat,

"Is that true Miss Mares? Are you indeed from the British part of the Council?"

"Yes of course." I muttered sitting down and staring at the table. The guy behind me said,

"Denny Franks, i'm from the Australian part." The old vampire nodded,

"Very good. As some of you might not know the Council is made up of several different parts each in a different country. Each year we meet to discuss problems among us. This meeting we are going to discuss the pest control. Has anyone had any problems with those blasted Scarlet Children?"

"Yeah my daughter ran off with some freaky sorcerer! They have a baby on the way. How am I supposed to help raise that kid?" The old vampire shook his head, and a few other people shouted out complaints about the Scarlet Children.

"People! People, listen there is only one way to deal with these cross breeds. We swipe our clans clean! We destroy the embarrassments that they are! This is the only way. I'll let you think about that before our next meeting." And with that the old vampire stood up and disappeared. Vampires stood around some arguing and others sat still with their faces whiter than a piece of printer paper. I felt someone tapping me on the shoulder, I turned around. It was Steven, the guy who saved me.

"Let's go away from here, we can go out with the others." Steven stuck out his hand and I grabbed it. We hurried out the doors back towards where Ben and I came. "So what's your real name?" I glanced at him.

"Evelyn, or I guess you could call me Evie."

"Pretty name."

"Thanks I just got it." He gave me a funny look.

"What do you mean?"

"Well my dad named me Evelyn, my mom changed it after he died so, I just found out from a friend of his." Wait why was I telling him this?

"Did you learn anything else from your father's friend?"

"Wait, what are you talking about." Steven looked around nervously,

"Are you a Scarlet Child?" I gasped and pulled away from his grasp.

"How did you know?"

" It was kind of obvious, you didn't know where you were from. I bet that's why the meeting was cut short, the Old Ones were suspicious of you." He shook his head, "You ned to leave if that's the case. It's really not safe for you." I bit my lip, I was in trouble already, but, I didn't have hardly any information yet.

"I have to stay longer until I get more information, it's important."
