Have you ever been in that state in life where one decision haunts you for the rest of your life?

That one decision turns you to something that's broken , someone who is full of hatred...

I remember how my life was so perfect,I was happy, he made me happy, I was always the top learner at school in every subject but now I'm the only top learner in maths  because I'm only focused on it as it helps me forget about everything bad that's currently happening in my life.

I regret the decision I made three years back as it demolished my dreams,heart and soul... I don't even know how happiness feels like...

I'm sitting down on top of the green grass ,under the big tree, the way everything in this park is so beautiful I wish my body could transform into a beautiful green grass and allow people to stomp on me ,I guess by then it wouldn't hurt that much the way it does now...

The last bell of the day rang indicating is time to go home...yep that's how loud the school bell is.

I decided to wait for 30 minutes before going back to school,I really don't want to see everyone's face after the whole drama with my best friend...oooops ex-best friend

I never thought this day will come,the day when Maddie turns her back on me, everything is really falling apart because of that one stupid decision I made when I was 15 years old. Adolescents,that stage destroyed my life ,I just hope everyone who is going through it can control it because I couldn't.

As I was about to stand up from the beautiful green grass,my phone rang ,it's my mother

"Chantel where are you sweetheart?"my mom asked.Im sure she is now at school with Maddie waiting for me

"I'm going to meet Mrs.Chorian,I was selected to participate in the maths Olympiads"

"Ohh my baby I'm so happy for you"she said with that squicky voice of her's,I bet she is jumping on her car sits by now "so what time will you knock off at?"

"I don't know but please don't wait for me" I will take a bus as I have some extra cash that I did not use during lunch time,that's how I am, whenever I'm inside my brain I forget that food exists and besides I'm not in the mood to talk to Maddie right now

"Are you sure"she paused"Maddie and I will wait for you"

"No,no mother please leave" I said as calm as I can,I don't want her to determine how my friendship with Maddie is ending  .

"Ok sweetheart ,I will see you at home then"

One of the reasons I love my mother is she will never force me to do something I don't want to

I perambulated up the road to school,I just hope everyone has left but at the same time I hope Zack is here maybe then I wouldn't take a bus to go back home

As I'm about to open the door my phone rang,it's Mrs.Chorian,she always keeps the numbers of her best learners

"Yes mam"I said politely

"Ms.Hoskin don't tell me you've forgot about the meeting,you know how much this is im-"

I cut her off by saying "mam I'm only 20 feet away from your class"

"I hope you are or else i-"I hanged up the phone and opened the door

"I'm sorry I'm late"I said and made my way to sit next to Jean where Stacia is sitting on her right in the first raw,we are the only three girls in the meeting ,I wonder where are the other five learners

"Other learners are with their maths Teachers, they will be joining us next week for our second meeting"she said,it's as if she was listening to my thoughts

"Okay now lets get started"she sat on her black chair

"You need to be grateful you are the chosen ones,this competition will open doors for you,it's preparing you for a brighter future ...". brighter future? There is not brighter future for me,this words got lost with my old personality

"...so this competition was proudly sponsored by Adnabis Foundation they will be the ones offering the scholarship for the top three learners,more details will be announced after writing the second test"she cleared her throat

"You will be writing three tests in total, the first one is written next week Friday where only one person will be eliminated and only two people will be eliminated on test number two...so only five people will be allowed to write the final test where only the top three will be chosen and offered the scholarship ,I guess that's all for today and the rest will be announced next week with other learners from different classes and please practice hard,this tests will be challenging, good luck" she stood up from her chair and opened the door for us

"Ms.Hoskin"

"Yes mam"

"Please wait for me"she said while going to her desk and taking her staff before locking the class

"Is your mother still waiting for you?"she said while we made our way to the exit door

"No mam,I told her to leave"

"Oh okay ,I'll take you home then" we made our way to her car,to be honest I don't want to leave with her but the thought of wasting my money and taking a bus forces me to agree and besides Mrs.Chorian is like a second mother to me

"Thank you mam"I said as I am approaching the door

"It's okay Chantel please study hard ,I know you'll make it"she shouted before closing the window of her car and leaving with a vicious roar

I opened the wooden door and greeted my parents before going upstairs to my room,all I want is to practice hard for the upcoming test ,I need to make sure I get that scholarship,maybe my life will then transmogrify ,and I'll have a that bright future Mrs.Chorian was taking about...I mean there is always hope right?

I opened the door to my room and started practicing  Maths ,the only cure to my broken soul ,the only thing that makes me forget about the past.

My phone is ringing  as I was practicing the only thing that makes me happy,it's an unknown number.

"Hello?"I said ,my voice came out more like a formal lady's voice.

"Hey Chantel it's Elsa"

Ohhh Elsa!?I really forgot that she existed .

"Oh Hi Elsa?"it came out more like a question than a statement,I wonder why I'm always rude towards her.

"I was just checking up on you,I never saw you after that whole drama with your friend".

Silence is the only answer right now,Maths really knows how to keep me ignorant towards this kind of situations.

"I'm sorry Chantel I didn't mean to talk about it".There was clear sadness in her voice.

"Oh no,no there's no problem at all".I lied and I think she detected it because she changed the subject and said"I'm happy you were selected to participate in the maths Olympiad". I wish Maddie was happy for me.

"Yeah thanks ey".

"Anyways Chantel ,just know you are welcome to speak with me about anything anytime"

"Thanks Elsa" I'm really grateful,at least there is someone who cares.

"Okay goodnight,I'll see you tomorrow" ,and with that said she hanged up the phone before I could respond.
