I Give Up in the Rain

It's already been a month and a half of me working at Blue Lotus Hospital. And also day 37/40 of the bet between Adam and I.

My department staff got paid today but the cheif doctors get paid a week later.

I packed my things as my shift ended and looked out the window.

I was frustrated to see that it was raining cats and dogs out there and the traffic that the rain made, there was no way I could find an auto for a good price.

I was so thankful that it does not snow in Chennai.

Akshara was also leaving, so I decided to ask her for a ride. But she said her boyfriend was picking her up. So I didn't want to be a third wheel and got in the elevator.

The elevator opened at the sixth floor and saw Adam talking with an assistant doctor. So I hid in the side of the elevator and pushed the down button over and over again.

There was NO WAY I was letting him drop me off. I'd rather walk home.

Thankfully, the elevator was on my side today and closed before he looked my way.

I got off the elevator and walked out with my umbrella and proceeded to find a bus stop which can take me to my neighborhood and I can walk from there.

The stop was pretty much empty which made me happy because I can actually sit down.

As I turned to admire the rain, I saw you-know-who pulling up by the bus stop and smiled wickedly.

" Well, the bus is here so, bye!" I said when he suddenly grabbed my hand.

The conductor said you need to preorder your bus tickets ONLINE at their WEBSITE. Only then can you get on the bus.

I was never more frustrated and peeled his fingers from my hand and argued with the conductor.

" It's like pouring rain, do you honestly expect for us to get the tickets online? I mean since when do we get tickets online for A BUS RIDE!!!!????"

" Since now mam, I'm sorry but we are fully booked.

Maybe wait for the next bus which doesn't get here till 2hrs or be a smart young lady and hitch a ride home with this handsome young man.

If my daughter were in this situation, I'd tell her to go with this guy, you know? You really are lucky." he said.

" What kind of a father are you?" I asked.

" The kind that knows exactly what my daughter needs. You sound more like my wife; all old and traditional. Son, please take her home will ya?" he asked.

" Yes sir." replied Adam with no shame.

As the bus pulled out, he asked, " Shall we?"

I was too tired and annoyed to even argue with him. So I said yes and got on his motorcycle.

" How did you know I would wait here?" i asked.

" I dunno, just instinct?" he replied.

" I really don't understand how you buy tickets for a bus ONLINE." I complained.

" Well, we're in the age of technology so, there's no reason to be shocked." he replied.

I actually agreed because that was the only response that made the most sense.

The traffic was getting worse overtime as people wanted to get home and the rain intensified by the minute, so it was pointless to have the umbrella.
