I decided to craft a new me. A me that is much stronger and more resilient than ever before.....
NAW!! Who am I kidding. I knew I lied to myself the moment I said that. Well.. there's a truth in that lie.
I woke up hearing the azan (The call to prayer in Islam) every morning because we live near a mosque. The time was 5:30 am and I was up and awake and soon brushed my teeth and washed my face.
As you may recall, I have trouble waking up early. But the only reason why I was up was because of jetlag.
The whole city was sleeping as I went up to the open roof we have and admired my neighborhood with a cup of coffee. Slowly, my house began to wake.
I finished my coffee and prayed the first prayer out of the five prayers Muslims are required to pray.
Then I worked out for an hour and a half. That was my normal workout routine before the 'event' is what I will refer to from now on. The sun said hello as I finished my workout and got some water.
My parents smiled at me as I entered our house after my jog with a towel on my neck. My sister was on her phone laying on the couch. I said hi and said I'll be back after a shower.
I heard my parents yell at my sister to be more like me. Productivity and all. I chuckled to myself and realized that my parents are DEFINETLY back to normal.

" That was a filling breakfast!! After a long time." commented my dad.
" Yes, you are correct. It is due to all that traveling Ebrahim. We need to stay put for some time don't you think?" sugggested my mom.
We all agreed. And she was right. I'm actually tired from traveling alot. Being sedentary is nice for a while.
I helped my mom clean up after breakfast and helped her cook lunch. I actually learned how to cook a lot of indian dishes. More than I knew when I was a teenager. She was surprised I knew the way to the kitchen for once. I chuckled at her true joke.
Later on the day I checked my email to see if anyone got back from my job applications. I sent out a bunch while I was in the States but never got around to checking them.
I found one! It was from the Dean of Blue Lotus Multi-Speciality Hospital requesting for a position as head Neurologist in his neurology department.
I was thrilled and replied back to him and he got back to me within a few hours.
" Good Afternoon Dr. Thanzeela,
Thank you for responding to my email. We have interviews scheduled in the given slots. Please register for whichever one works best and we will see you then!
With Sincere Regards,
Dean of Blue Lotus Hospital
I picked 10:30 am for tomorrow and hoped for the best. My parents were anticipating the Dean's response. Oh my gosh the whole fam felt the same way they did for when we were waiting for colleges to tell me if I got in or not.
Eventually, there was a 'do not reply to this email' message that said you are registered so please show up wearing this attire etc.
It was my first offical interview to my actual career so it was a bit nervewracking.
Especially the way my parents acted. It was tantalizing.
That night I saw two shooting stars that crossed each other then disappeared at once. I prayed the last prayer of the day and hoped to God for the best....
