A day of celebration, life, and union only brought pain and separation
As me and my brother sing happy birthday to ourselves, everyone else too busy with their own life, I realize something
I realize I'm alone in this world
Today I turn 7 and the only other human here to celebrate it with me is my twin
Shaky voices finish off the last verse, and silence soon follows in
Nothing else to do but indulge in our cake, we stop ourselves from crying by shoveling down our food
However, our forks don't move
My brother was never going to, as he stared down upon a cake he didn't enjoy
What a nice surprise, I thought, a day dedicated to us can't even be enjoyed since our opinions were ignored
I didn't lay a finger on my fork that night, except when we decided it was time to go to sleep
In the sink the fork went
My clammy hands encircle the red plastic bowl of liquid food, only to be put into the freezer, never to be touched again
We part, not even saying our good nights and goodbyes, because we both knew, if one of us were to open our mouths, the only thing to come out would be sobs
