27. Space

Derek's POV:

It was 6:50 and I was getting nervous driving to the park. I told her to meet me by the pond at 7. When I got there, I didn't see her so I sat down on a bench. It was 7:10 when she got there,"Sorry I'm a little late."

She had on a white dress and a small, white knit sweater to go with it. She curled her hair and she had on yellow flats. And red lipstick too. And her big blue glasses to bring out those eyes.

"That's alright." She smiles,"Shall we?" We walk around the park, arm in arm, talking. It starts getting dark and the fresh night air fills my lungs.

It started raining, so we ran under a tree to kinda keep dry. "That was a close one." "You're telling me!" "Penelope", she turns to look at me,"I wanted to, uh bring you here to ask you something." "What is it Derek?"

"I, um want to tell you how I-I really feel about you. Because honestly, I can't hold it back anymore. We've known each other for a long time, almost three years now, and everyday, I fall more in love with you. How sassy you are and the way you dress everyday. How your hair looks so beautiful everyday and how your glasses capture those big beautiful eyes of yours and I just can't stand it!"

"When we were kidnapped, I blamed myself for everything. I felt like I couldn't protect you anymore and that it was all my fault. When you were in a coma, I couldn't lose you. I wanted it to be me instead of you. Because you didn't deserve this! I was so happy when you woke up and I felt like it was my responsibility to take care of you after that. And, I know Saturday was a crazy day but I'll be with you for all the other crazy days to come."

"Call me twitterpated, but Penelope, I love you. And I want you to be mine."

Penelope's POV:

"Derek." I really wasn't expecting this. "I-I love you too Derek. But, Saturday really took a bite outta me and and, I just need some time to think about it ok?" I started walking away into the rain and he chases after me. "Penelope wait!" He grabs my hand and I turn to him,"Let me give you something to think about."

His lips crash into mine and he pulls me closer to him. I kiss him back and I wrap my arms around his neck. Here we are, kissing in the rain. Getting my clothes and hair wet. But, I'm with the man I love.

We kiss for a while. We stop,"Think about it." He says. I walk out the park and drive home. I got home and took a long hot shower. I changed into my pjs and got into bed.

I was freaking out on the inside and I was so satisfied at the same time. Kissing in the rain is so romantic to me, but I hate getting wet. I wanted Derek so badly, but relationships mess up everything and I really didn't want that to happen between us.

I texted JJ "Derek asked me to be his girlfriend 😳🙈💕"

"WHAT DID YOU SAY!!"

"I told him I would think about it."

"But Penelope, you've wanted this to happen for some time now."

"I know but I don't want our relationship messed up because we went out. You feel me J? 😁"

"Yeah. I feel you."

"But he said he really really loved me and we might've kissed a little. in the rain. tonight. in the park 😳😳😳"

"OH MY GOD PENELOPE! Get some 😏"

"Swear to god JJ 😳😂"

"I know 😆 but if he really loves you and will do anything for you, he'll find a way to keep things together between you two. No matter what happens. Night girly 😘"
