Getting to know Brantley

The next day at work I got a text from Brantley

Brantley: Hey darlin

Me: Hey

Brantley: Would you and the kids like to have dinner with me at my house tonight?

Me: Sure...what time?

Brantley: Around 7pm

I'm not really looking for a relationship because if I get in one and it doesn't work out then I don't just get hurt but my kids do too.

I get off work, go home to get a shower and give the kids a bath. Jessica already helped Scott with his home work so they are playing in the playroom. We walk over to Brantley's about 6:45pm and Scott is in love with his house. Its a beautiful two story log cabin. We ring the door bell and a few seconds later Brantley answers.

Brantley's Pov

I made chicken wrapped in bacon, cream taters, mac and cheese and rolls for supper. As soon as I took the rolls out of the oven the door bell rang. I opened the door to see Delanie with her two beautiful kids. She had a big smile on her face that could make a man go mad.

Come on in...I said. Supper just got done so take a seat and dig in.

Its looks great...Delanie said with a smile.

We sat and talked about her day at work and Scott's day at school while we ate. She asked about mine which I had a boring day around the house.

After supper we went into the living room and I put on cartoons for the kids to watch. Then Delanie got up and went into the kitchen but a few minutes later she didn't come back so I went to go check on her. She was washing the dishes. She is a great girl I don't see how she doesn't have a boyfriend?

I came up behind her and said you wash and I dry. She smiled and said ok. While we were washing dishes she asked why I didn't have a girlfriend? Well I was engaged I told her but it didn't work out. She said she was sorry to hear that and asked if I was working for a girlfriend?

Well I really like you even though we just met...I said truthfully.

Brantley I don't want to get into a relationship and it not work out because I want be the only one hurt in it but so will my kids.

I understand that but I would never hurt you or those kids...I said.

I'm sorry but no she said.

After the dishes were done they stayed about a hour then had to go. I walked them out and said goodnight.

Delanie's Pov

Dinner was great but I wasn't prepared for him to say he liked me.

I mean I like him too but I don't want to just jump into something I have my kids to think about. As soon as we got home I put the kids to bed and I went to bed myself. I went to bed thinking about Brantley.
