As Years Pass (An Edd x Marie story)

The car pulls into Eddy's driveway since Edd lives right next door the two exit the vehicle at the same time. Double D quickly walks toward his door but was stopped by Eddy, "Hey wait up sock head!" He catches up to Double D and lowers his voice to where only the two of them can hear. "Look Double D, we've been friends too damn long if something is going on we can talk about it, and if it comes to it me and Lee can always make room for you for a while. Ya know that right?"

"Eddy, while I appreciate the offer that will not be nesecerry, Sarah and I have our difficulties it's true but we are no longer adolescents. We can take care of our own issues."

"Ok sock head, but if she slugs you again I'm sending Lee over, she's been wanting a piece of her for a while! Ha ha." At this even Edd cracked a morbid smile. Truth be told he was not fond of Sarah. Their marraige was only superficial. Edd walked to his front door and took a deep breath before opening it. He put on his best fake smile as he walked in. Jimmy was sitting in the chair with his legs and arms crossed while Sarah glared at the door from the couch. She began yelling instantly.

"Edd! Where have you been? You are late, me and Jimmy are starving!"

"I'm sorry dear, Eddy ran late at his job so I had to wait..."

"Oh my god shut up I don't care. Just go make dinner!" She yelled this as she threw one of Edd's books from the coffee table directly at Edd hitting him hard in the shoulder. Edd picked up his book, held his now throbbing arm, and walked into the kitchen to start preparing dinner.

Eddy was standing at his living room window smoking a cigarette and watching the shadows on the blinds of Double D's house play out the whole scene. Lee walks up behind Eddy with thier son in her arms, placing a hand on his shoulder she glares out the window, "They at it again? I can go over there, I don't like it when sumthin bothers my man."

Eddie put's out his cigarette and turns around to face them, " Nah babe, Double D needs to learn how to stand up for himself and put that bitch and her boy toy out on the street."

"Hmm, guess that's right.... You want this thing?" Lee says jokingly motioning for Eddy to take the child. Thier son is 8 years old he is a short stocky boy with curly red hair.

"Of course I do." Eddy said with a smile and taking his son from Lee. Eddy kisses him on the cheek as the boy giggles. He walks across the room and sit's in a chair with his son in his lap. "You want to watch wrestling with daddy little Ed?"

"Yeeeaaaaaahhhhh!" Exclaimed the child.

Suddenly there was a bang on the front door. Eddy sat his son in the chair and got up. "Who the hell could that be?" Eddy opened the door and smiled. "Hey Lee! It's for you." Lee walked around the corner from the kitchen to see her sister Marie standing on her doorstep. Her mouth dropped open in disbelief.

"Hey sis, long time no see."

Lee screamed, "Marie! Oh my god, I haven't seen or heard from you in so long. You never wrote or called or nothin."

"Haha. I know, and I'm sorry things on the road are just nuts. I was gonna walk out to the trailer but, I ran into Rolf by the woods, he is the one who told me you and May both moved. Where is May anyway?"

"Ha ha ha, she got her man too. She lives across the Cul DeSac with big Ed."

"Oh really? Wow! This is so bizarre."

"Any way don't stand in the door it's cold out there come in and I'll call May right over."

Lee rushed off to the kitchen and started calling May. Eddie took Marie's coat and hung it up. Before saying, "So you want to meet your nephew?" Marie hadn't even noticed the little red headed boy in the chair. She looked at him in disbelief. "You and Lee had a baby?!"

"Yea 8 years ago. He looks just like his handsome old man but luckily he has his momma's curls." Eddie boasted.

Marie walked up to the boy in the chair and knelt down. "Hi I'm your Aunt Marie. What's your name?"

"Eddie"

"Aww you're so cute. We are gonna be best friends."

"Will you buy me jaw breakers?"

"Hahaha he's definitely yours Eddy.... Of course I'll buy you jaw breakers."

At this the little boy just reached out and hugged Marie. Suddenly and without knocking May burst in the front door dragging Ed by his collar. "Hi Eddy!" Ed exclaimed while May jumped on marie hugging her tightly and sobbing.

"Ed! You guys ever hear of knocking? Damn!"

"I'm sorry Eddy. May was very excited to see long lost sister Marie. I didn't even get to finish my dinner gravy."

Back at Edd's house he was nearly finished preparing dinner as he watched May run across the Cul DeSac dragging Ed along. "I wonder what they are up to?" Edd though.

"Edd is dinner ready yet? I swear you are fucking useless as a man!"

"I just finished sweetheart."

Edd sighed to himself. "I really am worthless." He picked up Sarah and Jimmy's plates and delivered them to them in the living room. He returned to the kitchen to make his own plate and eat alone at the table. He felt a single tear roll down his cheek as he though to himself, "This is not how I imagined my life." All of a sudden out of nowhere, an image of a girl with blue hair flashed across his mind. "I wonder where Marie is?" He said this only to himself in a whisper.
