As Years Pass (An Edd x Marie story)

Falling Into Place

Edd is taking his leave of Marie. He thuroghly enjoyed the dinner she made for him and with a kiss and warm embrace, he walked through the woods back toward the Cul DeSac.
He passed the clearing and his thoughts were full of only Marie, as he walked out of the woods and onto the street, he heard a shout, "Hey Edd!" He stopped and his blood ran cold, Sarah was standing in the doorway of Edd's house. "Can we talk?"

"I really have nothing to say Sarah."

"Please Edd. Give me five minutes."

Edd held the bridge of his nose," Oh bother." he said walking across the street.

"What Sarah?"

Sarah opened the door wide and opened her robe showing Edd her sexy lingerie. "Do you want to come in?"

Edd looked at Sarah, "No Sarah I don't. Shouldn't you show that to Jimmy?"

"I know I've made mistakes, but I'm showing it to my husband."

"I'll be going now Sarah."

Sarah became agitated, and started yelling. "Edd don't you dare walk away from me!"

"Well, there is the Sarah I'm used to, what's next? Are you going to belittle me? Call me worthless? Or maybe your favorite, you going to hit me?"

Sarah walked up to Edd and poked her finger into his chest. "Maybe I will Edd, I own you, I can do what I want." Sarah raised her hand and threw it forward to slap Edd only to have her wrist stopped. A strong jerk threw her backward onto the sidewalk. Sarah looked up to see Marie staring at her. Marie lunged forward when Edd grabbed her waiste from behind and stopped her. "Marie, contain yourself she isn't worth it!"

"I don't care I'm gonna rip her fucking guts out! How dare you try to lay your hands on my oven mitt!"

"Marie!" Edd spun her around and kissed her on the lips. Marie instantly calmed down, and put her hands on edd's waist. Sarah sat there watching them, her heart sank, seeing them together actually hurt her. Edd took marie by the hand, "let's go." He lead her to Ed's house the two walked in, to be greeted by a very dirty Ed sitting on a stool with May roughly combing his hair. "Hi Double D and Marie!"

The two looked at Ed and began to laugh, Edd asked, "Ed what happened to you?"

"Ed was taking cement up a ramp and I fell into it. So now there are rocks in Ed's head."

Marie flicked his nose with the comb, "They are in you hair not your head, you big goof."

"I AM THE CEMENT MAN!" Ed shouted picking May up over his head as if she were weightless. May began laughing and shouting.

"Ed put me down we have to get you clean so you can eat dinner."

With this Ed sat May down and stared straight ahead.

"Well it would appear Ed is still just as strong as ever."

"I assure you that is one thing that will probably never change. By the way Marie did you follow me?"

"Well I changed first, but yeah. I had a bad feeling, I'm sorry."

"Dont be sorry Marie, I'm glad you were there you really saved me."

May grew curious, "Did something happen?"

"I saw Sarah trying to slap Edd, I stopped her. I was about to beat her face in, but Edd stopped me."

"Well I don't want you to get into trouble."

May dropped the comb, "Wait you stopped Marie? How? Me and Lee pulling her back at the same time could never stop her once she got started!"

Marie blushed a little. "He kissed me and it's like all my anger just disappeared."

Ed stood up and without a word ran out of the door, "Ed where are you going?" May asked worried. Ed looked at her and said, "Ed is Sarah's brother." And he walked out.

Sarah was sitting on the sofa, she wasn't crying but her eyes felt heavy. There was a knock on the door, Sarah didn't answer, but Ed walked in anyway. He sat next to her on the couch, "Is Sarah ok?"

"Why do you even care Ed? You wanted me and Edd to break up since we got together."

"Little sister not good for Double D. Big brother is not smart, but he is not that dumb."

"What do you know Ed? Just shut up."

"I know Sarah only smiles at friend Jimmy and that she only yells at Double D. Big brother only wants Sarah and Double D to be happy."

Sarah started crying, she clutched her brothers shirt and pounded her fist against his chest hard, but Ed felt no pain. His eyes welled up with tears, and he pulled Sarah in for a tight hug. "Be happy little sister. Be happy for Big brother Ed."

Ed held Sarah until she stopped crying. As he was walking out he met Jimmy on the door step. Jimmy flinched at just the sight of Ed. Ed smiled, "Hi Jimmy! Little sister is inside. Hahahaha!" Ed ran across the Cul DeSac and back into his house. Jimmy walked in, "So Sarah, did you get Edd back?" she could smell that Jimmy had been drinking and he was obviously upset.

"No Jimmy he wouldn't touch me."

At this Jimmy was relieved, but he was still angry at the idea of Sarah sleeping with Edd. "Well that's good, so what's your next plan then?"

"I don't have one Jimmy, I think maybe we should move out of here and get a place together once we have the money. Maybe it's better to let Edd be happy."

"Do you really mean it Sarah? You want to have an actual relationship instead of being secret lovers?"

"It wasn't much of a secret Jimmy, even Ed knew. I'm gonna file the divorce and get it over with as quickly as possible. I guess I'll call my parrents and ask for some money we are gonna need to get by for at least a month so we can get a cheap apartment and find jobs."

"You don't have to borrow anything Sarah."

Sarah was taken aback, "What do you mean?"

"I have plenty of money Sarah, I've been working from home and saving it up. I also still have my dad's old house. It needs a little work but we can do it. I wanted to wait until I had a little more, but I was going to ask you to leave Edd and be with me."

Sarah threw her arms around Jimmy, "Oh Jimmy, let's do it let's be together!" She kissed him on the cheek. "Tomorrow, I'll make things right."
