As Years Pass (An Edd x Marie story)

With Change Comes Trouble

"What am I doing?" Edd thought to himself walking through the cold night air. "She said she still loves me, and my feelings for her haven't changed. I'm terrified but also excited for the outcome. Will she meet me at the trailer tomorrow? Will she really stay just for me?" Edd's mind was racing with questions. He got to the edge of the woods only to hear a call, "Hey sock head!" Eddy was running up to Edd in a panic. "Double D, something is up! *pant This is gonna sound crazy but have you seen Marie Kanker? *pant She came into town tonight and she disappeared from our house! Her coat is there but she's gone! You gotta help me find her!"

"I just saw her Eddy, she is at the trailer right through there."

"What? The trailer? Did you do what I think you did?"

"It is only right that I did. I only purchased it and updated the property for the purpose of giving it to her someday."

"Jeez, Double D. I got bad news. Before I saw you here, I kinda banged on your door. Sarah knows Marie is in town. I'm sorry Edd but I had to, Lee was completely losing it."

"It's fine Eddy, I gave Marie the letter. By now she knows everything. It is fine if Sarah knows because I have every intention of leaving her tonight."

"You what?!? Double D this is huge you better think about it man!"

"I have carefully concidered it for years Eddy. I promised myself if Marie ever returned, I would not let anything stop me from pursuing her. That includes Sarah. You have been right from the beginning Eddy, I should have never married Sarah it was a mistake that has become my life's greatest blunder. A blunder I intend to immediately correct. Now if you'll excuse me." Edd walked off toward his house as Eddy stood there completely dumbfounded when he suddenly heard next to him, "Fuck." Eddy turned around startled he hadn't even noticed Ed was standing there.

"Jesus lumpy how much of that did you hear?"

"Ed heard enough to know that baby sister is going to go crazy."

Eddy placed his hand on his forehead, "Fuck."

"Eddy should go home because of the tiny baby Eddie."

"What're you gonna do?"

Ed stared at Double D's house with his same vacant look, he gave gave Eddy a small nudge toward home and said, "Ed will wait."

Edd was walking into his front door calmly, no faking of a smile this time, he was a new man one of unshakable conviction. Sarah stood in the middle of the room glaring at the door waiting for Edd to return. Jimmy sat behind her in the chair like the loyal dog he was.

"Where have you been Edd." Sarah growled through her teeth.

"I was walking in the woods when I ran into Marie Kanker. We talked for a bit about High school. Tell me Sarah, why would you tell her I hated her, when you didn't know the first thing about me back then?"

"Why does it matter Edd? What matters is now. You are my husband, I own you, and I'm going to say this once, you will never see her again."

"No.... No Sarah, that simply will not do."

"Edd..." Sarah scowled, "I will leave you."

Jimmy piped in, "Do it Sarah, that will show him."

"Well Sarah, honestly that is the nicest thing you have ever said to me, so please do. As I no longer wish to keep our hollow, loveless, sham of a marraige alive."

Sarah flew into a rage, "You can't leave me, I'll kill you first." She began punching and kicking Double D. He threw his hands over his head and fell to his knees. Jimmy then also started hitting Edd along with Sarah. The whole time yelling and screaming obscenities at Double D. The door suddenly burst open and a furious Ed walked in. He looked at the scene and started walking toward Sarah and Jimmy. He grabbed Jimmy by the shirt lifting him off the ground one handed, when May came running in, "Ed, please calm down it's not..."

Ed turned as he held Jimmy's collar looking furiously into May's eyes he shouted, "May don't watch mad Ed!" May knew there was no stopping him once he snapped, so she turned and ran back home. Ed looked back at Jimmy who was hitting Ed in the face. He didn't react to the pain, instead he tilted his head back and slammed it forward into Jimmy's mouth breaking several of his teeth. He dropped Jimmy to the floor, blood ran from Ed's head as pushed Sarah off of Edd, and picked his beaten friend up over his shoulder. Sarah yelled, "Ed, put him down right now he is mine!"

Ed walked toward Sarah still furious, she backed up until her back was against the wall. Ed leaned down to Sarah's level and put his face right infront of hers to where their noses were nearly touching.

"Sarah is mean to Double D just like she was Ed. You stay away from Ed's friend."

Ed began to walk out the door. While passing Jimmy, who was still on his hands and knees, holding his mouth Ed said, "Night, night." and delivered a hard kick to Jimmy's forehead rolling him onto his back unconscious. Ed walked out the door with Double D.

"Double D will stay with Ed and May until little sister and Jimmy find a new house."

"Ed, thank you so much." Double D's voice was weakened from the injuries.

Ed then pulled Edd to infront of him and began to squeeze him tightly.

"Aww, Double D is Ed's best friend!"

"Owww, Ed please loosen your grip I am injured."

As they enterd the yard Ed shouted at his house. "May, we need a bed and gravy for Ed's friend Double D."

May opened the door and the two went inside.

Eddy and Lee were watching everything happen from thier front steps.

"Well I guess you can leave it to my little sister to kick up a fuss."

"Yeah, I guess so. Should I go to the trailer and let Marie know what just happened?"

"What are ya stupid? Marie comes out here and sees the oven mitt like that she's gonna kill that yappy little bitch."

"When you're right, you're right. You do know she is going to fight with Sarah eventually anyway right?"

"S'pose so. Can't really be helped."

Lee laid her head on Eddy's shoulder, enjoying a bit of calm in the chaos of the evening before returning to bed.
