As Years Pass (An Edd x Marie story)

Back at Eddy's house the mood is joyous. Lee set out 3 more plates and all of the Kanker sisters are together again for the first time in years. Everyone was laughing and amazed at Marie's stories of life in a band. The gigs she had, touring with other bands, and the crazy people you meet when you're a musician. Eventually the conversation came around to how her sisters ended up with the Eds. Lee told her story first.

"We were both in detention together. I beat up a girl for giving me the stink eye and Eddy got caught selling girly mags. We was in detention a lot together but there were always a bunch of people with us too. But this day it was just me and my monkey man. The teacher left so I pulled out some chips and started snacking. I saw Eddy glancing over so I offered him some. He took a few and said "Thanks" that was the first time we really said or did anything nice to eachother. Since it was just us I asked him if he actually hated me? I wasn't expecting him to say no, but he did."

"I told you I didn't hate you or like you, you were always just busting my balls in front of everyone so I had a reputation to keep up."

"After he was just honest about it I stopped being so in his face all the time. Eventually we started talking and that led to hangin around after school which lead to..."

"Me knocking you up! Hahaha" Eddy interrupted. Lee just elbowed him in the ribs and continued.

"So yea when I found out I was pregnant I told him. I expected him to bolt but all he said was, "Well I guess we should just get married then." I was not expecting that. Long story short I was 7 months pregnant and a wife 2 days after graduating."

"I was gonna marry Lee anyway, the baby just moved things a little faster forward."

Marie blushed at the story, it was sweet in it's own juvenile delinquent way. "What about you May?

"Big Ed is my hero. We were in gym and Ed wad reading a comic on the bleachers."

"It was Space Zombies Invade Planet Nebular. In it the space warrior fought the evil dripping hordes of zombies to defend the pretty pretty princess of Nebular."

"I looked up and saw Ed staring at me, then he kept looking at the comic and back at me."

"She was the pretty princess!"

"After you left and Lee was pregnant it left me to defend myself. Since the kanker sisters couldn't all fight as a pack people started picking on me. That same day Kevin threw a basketball at me and hit me in the face. My nose was bleeding and I started crying while him and Johnny laughed at me. I looked up as Ed was running toward me. He handed me his coat and started wiping my face with the sleeve. He looked at Kevin amd I had never seen a face so angry. Ed ran full speed toward kevin and Johnny and he was yelling...."

Ed stood up from the table and yelled as if still angry, "HOW DARE YOU HURT MY PRINCESS!"

May patted him on the shoulder and gently sat him back down in his seat. Marie giggled because even after all this time Ed was still easily excited.

"He started fighting Kevin and Johnny, two teachers jumped on his back to stop him, but Ed just kept punching and grabbing them to pull them back, he fought like a monster. When it was over the teachers were still trying to get him on the ground, but he shook them off like flys and walked back to me. He picked me up and carried me to the nurse. The principle was so mad. He kept shouting at Ed telling him to get to his office "Right now." Ed wouldn't move, he stayed with me in the nurses office until she told me I was ok and assured Ed I was going to be safe"

"Ed was suspended for two weeks and had to re do 12th grade but that's ok because May helped me do my homework and gives me chunky puffs for dinner sometimes."

Marie laughed uncontrolably, "Big Ed don't ever change ya big lug."

Everyone had a good laugh together but the laughter ceased all at once at Marie's next question, she blushed a little and asked "What ever happened to Double D?" Everyone froze they didnt know how to tell her what Edd was up to, how could they? Everyone at that table knows how Marie felt about Edd, but only Ed and Eddy saw Double D have a complete breakdown when she left. Eddy stood up and tapped Ed on the shoulder, "Come on lumpy we should let the Girls talk." Eddy kissed Lee on the forehead, "We are gonna go have a beer in the garage." Ed and Eddy left the room, May and Lee looked at eachother as if silently arguing who was going to break the news but it was Marie who broke the silence.

"Umm, ok? So what is it?"

Lee has always been the strongest sister and decided it was her responsibility to break the news.

"Marie, I gotta know. Did you come back just for Edd?"

Marie paused and thought for a moment before answering. "It wasnt my only reason, the band split up, my family is here, and I'm tired of life on the road to name a few but, I wont lie. That was... the deciding factor. Just tell me Lee, who is she?"

May spoke up. "Ed's little sister."

"Sarah? You mean big mouth, loud, bossy Sarah?"

"The very same" Lee said, "Trust me none of us like it even Ed told him not to do it. It get's worse Marie. She ain't good to him. She treats him like a slave and even has Jimmy livin with em. I know her and Jimmy are fuckin, I hear it goin on while Double D is at work."

"Ed told me he has seen bruises on him too. But you know how Edd is, he's too nice and too responsible to ditch her."

Marie was furious. She stood up from the table and headed for the door. Lee quickly got up and moved in front of her, "Where you going Marie?"

"If that bitch thinks she can put her dirty hands on my oven mitt she deserves this ass beating!"

Lee slaps Marie back to rationality and yells, "What good is that gonna do Marie! None! Edd hasn't seen you in 10 years! You think the best shot you got is barging into his house and beating his wife?! Think Marie." Marie falls into Lee's arms and begins crying. May walks up and joins in with tears in her eyes as well. Marie sinks to the floor with her sisters still holding her saying, "I never should have left him alone."

In the garage Ed and Eddy were sipping a beer and listening to everything take place when Ed said,

"Should we go in and help Eddy?"

"Hell no lumpy this is girl stuff. If we could be any help at all you think i would have drug us out here to freeze our nuts off in a garage?"

"Ok.... Is Marie's heart sad Eddy?"

"Probably."

"I think Double D has a sad heart too."

"You are a lot smarter than you look Ed."
