I walk into our bedroom and gently lay Teagan under the covers of the king size bed. She slowly opens her eyes. They are glassey as if she had been crying. "What's going on?" She weakly asks. "You're sick Teag," I say soothingly. "We took you to the doctor, it's nothing to worry about you just need to rest."
She closes her eyes and goes back to sleep. I leave her be and leave the room. Cannon is sitting on the sofa watching television. I sit beside him.
"How is she?" He asks. "Fine" I respond. "What are you watching?" I question. "A cooking show," He casually replied. "You, of all people, like cooking shows?" I laugh. "Yeah, so what's wrong with that boss?" He counters. "Shut up," I counter back.
Cannon stands up and shuffles over to Grayson to chat. I lay down of the sofa and fall asleep.
"Ry, wake up," I hear a voice say. I realize that it's Teagan and open my eyes. "What are you doing up? What time is it?" I ask. "I can't sleep without you and it is seven after twelve. Come to bed please," Teagan begs. "Okay" I say as I stand up.
We walk back to our room. "How are you feeling anyway?" I question Teagan. "Pretty shitty, but better now that you're with me," She responds trying to break the mood. "I love you Teag," I say. "I love you too Ry," She replied.
We both get in bed. I wrap her in a hug as I drift into sleep.
I wake up as she leaves the room around nine forty-five. She's not very quiet. I get up and follow her out about five minutes later. "Morning Ry," She sings. "Morning" I grumble.
I am really tired. "Teagan, I want you to do something for me," I request. "Okay, what?" She responds. I look to my left where the living room is. On the coffee table there is a bowl with fake fruit in it.
"You see that fake fruit?" I ask. "Yeah" She responds. "I want you to pick it up one by one with your telekinesis and throw them down the hall," I request.
She does what I ask. One by one she throws them down the hallway. "Do you feel any different?" I question. "Yeah, I'm kind of tired. Why?" She questions. "I think your recs drain you," I reply.
"While you were being checked out by the doctor I was on the phone with you father. He said that if that is the case then we have to go to Germany and talk to a man that goes by the name of Gregor," I inform. "Your father said that he would know what to do." She shoots me a look.
"Do you really want to go back to Germany?" She asks. "You hated it there. That's why you left anyway," I look down. "It was worse in Newfoundland. You know how everyone would laugh when I tell them my dads name is Adolf," I mutter. "I'm sorry" She responds.
Kacey walks out of her room. "What's up?" She questions. "Oh not much, just planning a little trip to Germany," Teagan blurts. "What the hell are you talking about Squirt?" Kacey asks.
"Her powers drain her energy which if we don't stop it, it will be draining her life causing her to die," I explain. They both stare at me in complete shock. "When do we leave?" Kacey asks. "As soon as the boys wake up. I am going to arrange for Albert to take us," I respond.
"I am going to go lay down," I mumbled as I walk to my room. I sit on the bed staring out the window. I love the view and the fresh bakery scent from the bakery next door.
I didn't hear the door open but Teagan must have climbed onto the bed cause her arms are wrapping me in a bear hug."I love you Ry," She whispers in my ear. I say nothing, I just turn to face her and I kiss her. We kiss for awhile. She pulls away.
"Am I really killing myself a little bit more every time I use my Recs?" She asks. "Uh-huh," I mumbled. My eyes fill with tears. "I can't lose you, you're everything to me," I cried. "It's going to be okay. I won't use them until I'm better, I promise,"She reassured me as her eyes filled with tears.
There we sat on the bed, crying on each others shoulders.
"Come on, let's get going," Cannons booming voice shouts. I look Teagan in the eyes and brush a piece of hair out of her face with my hand. We get off the bed and leave.
The whole bus ride not a word was spoken between Teagan and I. Until we turned the corner and hit a lad mine that the Tringers had planted.
Boom There was and explosion and we all went flying out of the bus. My ears began ringing and everything went white for a moment.
I can see now but the noise is muffled, and the pain of the flaming bus on top of me is unbearable. I scream.
